Education technology company Coempt Edu Teck has responded to concerns surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, disputing allegations related to answer-sheet access, image quality issues, and cybersecurity risks.

The company's statement comes after reports highlighted instances in which students allegedly received incorrect answer sheets and questions were raised about the security and reliability of the digital evaluation platform.

According to Coempt, an investigation into a reported case involving the delivery of another student's answer sheet traced the issue to the physical document-scanning stage rather than any malfunction within the software platform. The review reportedly identified the scanning location and personnel involved, with no evidence of a system-level technological error.

Company Addresses Operational Concerns

Coempt stated that the vast majority of students who requested copies of their evaluated answer sheets had successfully received them. The company acknowledged that some complaints regarding image clarity and the readability of handwritten responses remain under review in collaboration with relevant assessment authorities.

The firm also rejected suggestions that inadequate scanning equipment was responsible for quality issues. It maintained that its scanning infrastructure meets accepted industry requirements and is periodically upgraded to support consistent performance.

Cybersecurity Allegations Rejected

Addressing concerns that emerged following claims made by a young ethical hacker, Coempt said the accessed environment was a testing server used for internal purposes and was completely separate from its active operational systems.

The company emphasized that neither student information nor client data was exposed or affected during the incident and that its live infrastructure remained secure.

Reference to Telangana Examination Dispute

Coempt also pointed to the controversy surrounding the 2019 Telangana Intermediate examination results, noting that official records indicated only a limited number of score revisions among reviewed cases.

The company further highlighted that legal efforts seeking large-scale re-evaluation and criminal proceedings against the technology provider were not accepted by the Supreme Court.

Ongoing Debate Over Digital Evaluation

The CBSE's digital answer-book assessment system has recently attracted attention due to reports of answer-sheet mismatches and alleged security concerns circulating online.

While critics continue to question aspects such as transparency, data protection, and the reliability of digitized evaluation processes, Coempt maintains that the reported incidents represent isolated cases rather than evidence of broader shortcomings within the platform.
