Subjects Covered

The six papers included in the CA Intermediate course are:

Group I

  • Advanced Accounting
  • Corporate and Other Laws
  • Taxation

Group II

  • Cost and Management Accounting
  • Auditing and Ethics
  • Financial Management and Strategic Management

Passing Marks and Evaluation Rules

To pass a CA Intermediate group, candidates must satisfy both the minimum qualifying requirement in every paper and the overall aggregate requirement for that group.

  • Minimum score in each paper: 40 marks out of 100.
  • Minimum group aggregate: 150 marks out of 300.
  • Negative marking: No deduction is applied for incorrect answers to multiple-choice questions under the stated examination scheme.
  • Group-level qualification: Candidates must meet both the individual-paper threshold and the required aggregate.

Students may attempt the two groups separately or appear for both in the same examination session. Those appearing for both groups must fulfil ICAI's applicable passing conditions to qualify.

What Happens After the Results?

Candidates who successfully clear both groups can move forward to the next stage of the Chartered Accountancy programme, provided they meet the institute's relevant eligibility, practical training and other applicable requirements.

Students who do not pass should examine their subject-wise scores to identify areas requiring improvement. They should also consult ICAI's official website for announcements regarding upcoming examinations, registration deadlines and other relevant instructions.

Candidates are advised to rely on the institute's official portal for their individual results and any updates concerning the September 2026 examination.
