The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has extended the registration deadline for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. Candidates who could not complete their applications by the earlier deadline can now register until October 19, 2026, instead of October 12.

The deadline extension gives applicants an additional week to apply for postgraduate programmes offered through JAM across 23 IITs. The admission process covers 89 postgraduate programmes in science and related disciplines for the 2027–28 academic session.

IIT Kharagpur is the organising institute for JAM 2027. Eligible candidates can complete their applications through the official JAM application portal.

JAM 2027 Examination Pattern

JAM 2027 will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. Candidates can select either one or two test papers, subject to the prescribed paper combinations and the applicable additional examination fee.

Test Papers Offered in JAM 2027

The examination will be conducted for seven subjects:

• Biotechnology
• Chemistry
• Economics
• Geology
• Mathematics
• Mathematical Statistics
• Physics

Candidates choosing two test papers must select subjects that are scheduled in different examination sessions.

JAM 2027 Application Fee

For One Test Paper

• Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories: Rs 1,000
• All other candidates: Rs 2,000

For Two Test Papers

• Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories: Rs 1,350
• All other candidates: Rs 2,700
