IIT Kharagpur Launches Hybrid AI and ML Programmes

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has introduced a series of hybrid executive programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and technology leadership. These programmes are designed to help working professionals build practical, industry-relevant AI skills.

The certification courses are delivered in an online format and cater to software engineers, machine learning professionals, technical leaders, and mid- to senior-level individuals in business and technology roles. Interested candidates can apply through the institute’s official online learning platform.

Ranked 5th in the NIRF 2025 engineering rankings, the institute is offering four specialised programmes:

• Executive PG Certificate in Generative AI and Agentic AI
• Executive PG Certificate in AI-native Software Engineering
• Executive PG Certificate in Applied AI and Machine Learning
• Executive Programme in Technology and AI Leadership

These programmes are primarily conducted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and focus on real-world applications such as generative AI, large language models, and agent-based systems.

Director Suman Chakraborty noted that the rapid advancement of AI highlights the need to extend learning beyond traditional classrooms. The initiative is aimed at professionals who want to develop scalable, real-world AI systems rather than focusing solely on theory.

The courses will include live online sessions led by IIT Kharagpur faculty, supported by the institute’s research contributions to global conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, and IEEE journals.

The institute is also collaborating with upGrad to expand its online learning portfolio, with additional programmes expected to launch in the coming months.

With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and industry relevance, these programmes aim to help professionals remain competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
