The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has started the admission process for its BS Degree Programmes for the 2026 academic session. Interested candidates can submit applications until May 31, 2026.
These programmes are designed to make IIT-quality education more accessible and are available to anyone who has completed Class 12, regardless of age or location.
Students can pursue these programmes as independent degrees or alongside their existing undergraduate studies. Those enrolled in courses such as BCom, BSc, BBA, or engineering can join these programmes to strengthen their technical and analytical capabilities.
According to IIT Madras, the flexible structure allows learners to build industry-relevant skills while balancing academic, personal, or professional responsibilities.
Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, stated that the programmes aim to maintain high academic standards while offering greater flexibility to learners.
He also noted that knowledge in data, technology, and interdisciplinary subjects is becoming increasingly important across careers and educational backgrounds.
The curriculum has been developed with guidance from academic and industry experts, focusing on practical applications and emerging technologies.
Students receive exposure to areas such as data analytics, business decision-making, electronic systems, and aerospace technologies.
The programmes have already attracted a large number of learners from different parts of India, reflecting IIT Madras’ broader effort to expand access to higher education through technology-enabled learning.
