The University of Mumbai has postponed all examinations scheduled for July 6, 2026, following persistent heavy rainfall across the city and forecasts indicating continued adverse weather conditions.
Continuous monsoon showers have caused waterlogging, traffic congestion, and disruptions to public transport in several parts of Mumbai. In view of the prevailing situation and weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the university decided to defer the examinations to ensure the safety of students and staff.
All University of Mumbai examinations scheduled for July 6 have been postponed until further notice. The university cited ongoing heavy rainfall and the latest weather advisory as the primary reasons for revising the examination schedule.
Students are advised not to report to their respective examination centres on the scheduled date.
The university has confirmed that a fresh examination timetable will be released separately. Candidates should regularly check the official University of Mumbai website and remain in contact with their respective colleges for updates and further instructions.
Affiliated colleges and all concerned institutions have also been notified about the postponement.
Mumbai and surrounding areas have been experiencing intense rainfall over the past several days. The adverse weather has resulted in flooding in low-lying areas, slower traffic movement, and interruptions to public transportation services.
The IMD has forecast continued heavy to very heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to implement precautionary measures aimed at minimizing disruption and ensuring public safety.
In response to the weather conditions, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for government, private, and civic-run schools and colleges across Mumbai on July 6.
The decision follows the issuance of an Orange Alert by the IMD. Residents have been advised to avoid non-essential travel wherever possible. Government and private offices, however, continue to operate.
The University of Mumbai has assured students that the revised examination dates will be announced soon, allowing candidates adequate time to prepare and make the necessary arrangements. Students are also encouraged to stay in touch with their colleges and monitor official university announcements for the latest information.
