The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is set to offer a 40-week online diploma programme focused on Science education at the middle stage. The initiative is primarily aimed at teachers and other professionals involved in Science education for students in Classes 6 to 8.

Registration and Schedule

Applications for the 2026–27 batch are scheduled to open on October 12, 2026. Candidates interested in joining the programme can register until November 12, 2026, through the NCERTX online learning platform.

The programme is scheduled to commence on November 16, 2026. Its tentative completion date is August 31, 2027.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to a range of candidates associated with Science education, including:

• Graduates holding a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.
• In-service teachers teaching Science in Classes 6 to 8.
• Individuals with a diploma or degree in education.
• Pre-service teachers pursuing an education diploma or degree.
• Other individuals directly involved in Science education.

Course Structure

The diploma programme is divided into 40 modules. Participants are expected to receive one new module every Monday, creating a structured weekly learning schedule throughout the course.

Learners should set aside around six to eight hours each week for studying the course material. The programme combines Science subject knowledge with teaching methodologies and uses interactive and multimedia-based learning resources.

Assessment and Certification

Each of the 40 modules includes an objective assessment. Participants who complete all modules and undertake all 40 assessments will become eligible to appear for the final examination.

Candidates who successfully meet the programme requirements will receive an e-certificate from NCERT recognising completion of the Science teaching programme at the middle stage.

Fee Structure

The programme requires a one-time enrolment payment of Rs. 2,000. No separate course fee is indicated beyond this enrolment charge.

Following payment, candidates will receive an email from NCERTX containing the instructions needed to complete the enrolment process.
