UP Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2026 Begins with AI Surveillance | News

Uttar Pradesh has commenced one of its biggest police recruitment drives, with nearly 2.88 million candidates competing for 32,679 constable positions. The examination is being organized across 1,183 centres located throughout all 75 districts of the state.

Given previous concerns regarding examination malpractice and paper leak incidents, authorities have introduced extensive surveillance systems and enhanced security measures to safeguard the recruitment process.

Advanced Monitoring and Security Infrastructure

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has established a multi-layered security framework that combines technology and manpower to oversee the examination process.

Key Security Measures Include:
  • More than 32,000 CCTV cameras installed across examination venues
  • Artificial intelligence-based monitoring systems
  • Thermal scanning devices
  • Real-time surveillance through centralized control rooms
  • Deployment of approximately 60,000 additional security personnel

Officials state that AI-assisted systems can identify unusual behavior patterns and immediately notify authorities if suspicious activity is detected.

Enhanced Identity Verification

Strict identity verification procedures have been introduced to prevent unauthorized entry into examination centres. Every staff member involved in examination duties, including invigilators, teachers, administrative personnel, and support staff, has been issued authorized identification credentials.

These measures are intended to prevent impersonation attempts and reduce opportunities for organized cheating operations.

Severe Penalties for Examination Fraud

Uttar Pradesh's anti-cheating legislation imposes stringent penalties on individuals involved in examination malpractice.

  • Fines of up to Rs. 25 lakh and imprisonment of up to seven years for initial offences.
  • Fines reaching Rs. 1 crore and life imprisonment for repeat violations.
  • Additional legal action against organized cheating networks under applicable criminal laws.

Authorities have emphasized that recruitment-related fraud will be treated as a serious criminal offence.

Examination Schedule

Dates: June 8, 9, and 10

Morning Session: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Afternoon Session: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

District administrations have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure the smooth conduct of examinations across all centres.

Guidelines on Permitted Items

Candidates are allowed to wear customary religious symbols and traditional items. However, objects that could potentially conceal electronic communication devices will be subject to inspection.

The policy aims to respect cultural and religious practices while preserving the integrity of the examination.

Investigation into Online Scam Activity

Prior to the examination, authorities identified an alleged online scam involving a Telegram channel that claimed to provide access to examination papers in exchange for money.

According to investigators, payment details and QR codes were circulated to collect funds from candidates. A police case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.

Officials have reiterated that no examination paper has been compromised and have advised candidates to avoid relying on unverified information shared online.

Strengthening Confidence in Recruitment Processes

Beyond filling thousands of vacancies, this recruitment exercise serves as a major test of the state's ability to conduct a transparent and secure examination process.

By combining advanced surveillance technology, strict verification procedures, extensive security deployment, and strong legal deterrents, Uttar Pradesh aims to establish a more reliable recruitment framework and discourage examination fraud.

The effectiveness of these measures will be closely observed by candidates, policymakers, and other states exploring ways to strengthen examination security and public trust in recruitment systems.
