From 2026, college admissions are set to be conducted entirely through an online system, marking the end of the offline admission process in West Bengal.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has directed the state education department to ensure that all admission procedures are carried out through a fully digital platform to enhance transparency and accountability. He reportedly stated that offline admission systems in the past were often linked to allegations of corrupt practices, and that shifting to an online mechanism would help eliminate irregularities and improve the overall fairness of the process.
