Admission to 5 year LL.B. Course (Session: 2026-31)
It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that process of admission to 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme in Self-financed Colleges under B.U. will start on and from 23/07/2026. Intending candidates are directed to visit the website of the university (www.buruniv.ac.in) to have the Notice alongwith Application Form Link. Upon submission of the application form, a confirmation message will be sent to the applicant’s registered email address. Candidates are advised to take a print out of the same for future references.
The entire process of admission will run as per the following schedule:

Apart from this, admission to the above mentioned programme will be guided by the following guidelines:

Candidates, who have passed the Higher Secondary or +2 Examination from any recognized Council/Board/University, are eligible for application subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criterion stated below:
Eligibility: For admission to 5-year B.A. LL.B (Hons.) Programme, each candidate shall have to pass the Higher Secondary Examination under (10+2) pattern or its equivalent examination securing not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category, 42% of the total marks in case of OBC (Non-creamy Layer)** category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.
As per the notice vide no. BCI: D: 6817:2022(Council) (Cir-12/2022), dated 12.12.2022, 3-year Diploma/Polytechnic Course issued by an institution recognized by the Government shall be considered at par with +2 certificate for the purpose of admission to the 5-year Integrated LL.B. Degree Course.
** As per the Kolkata Gazette Notification No. : 945-BCW/MR-23/2026, dated 18.05.2026 and the notification issued by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of W.B., vide no. 1037(64)/Secy-BCW/MR-33/2025(Pt. V), dated 29.05.2026.
N.B.: In the calculation of percentage marks of H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination, marks of the best five subjects or as prescribed by the respective Board/Council/University will be considered.

Application fee is Rs. 300/- for the year 2026-27 and to be paid to the following Bank Details of the University (Bank Name: State Bank of India, B.U. Branch, Account Number: 10212631227, IFS Code: SBIN0002033) and take a print out of the payment document.

No age limit is there but the entire process including admission to the programme shall abide by the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in WP (Civil) No. 1023/2016 pending before it.

There will be no reservation in seats in Self-financed College(s) by virtue of the Sl. No. 3 in the Notification of the Kolkata Gazette, vide Registered no. WB/SC-247, NO. WB (Part-I)/2014/SAR-6, dated 03.01.2014.

Written Admission Test shall be based on GK & Current Affairs (50 marks) & General English (50 marks). Questions shall be of descriptive & short answer type. Cut-off marks, if required, will be determined by the Competent Authority of the University. Medium of answering the questions in the Written Admission Test is English and duration of the test is 2.30 hrs (GK & Current Affairs- 01 hr. and General English- 1.30 hrs.).

Admit Card will be sent to the Applicant’s registered email address in due time.

Admission to 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme in Self-financed Colleges under B.U. will be done on the basis of merit. For generation of Merit List, Merit Score of each applicant will be computed taking into account the marks obtained in the written admission test to be conducted by the university authority.

The Merit List shall be published mentioning the Rank, Name of the applicant, Roll No., Merit Score and Name of the allotted college (based on the choice given by each applicant in the Google Form) subject to availability of seat(s).

In case of tie, the following tie-breaking rules shall be applicable:
Step-I: Merit Score + Marks of English in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination.
Again tie, then
Step-II: Merit Score + Marks of English in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 1st best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination.
Again tie, then
Step-III: Merit Score + Marks of English in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 1st best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 2nd best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination.
Again tie, then
Step-IV: Merit Score + Marks of English in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 1st best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 2nd best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination+ Marks of the 3rd best subject in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination.

Step-V: Merit Score + Marks of English in the H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination + Marks of the 1st best subject in the H.S. Non-refundable seat booking cum admission processing fees @Rs.500/- per candidate will be charged subsequent to the publication of merit list & seat allocation and the amount is to be paid to the University using the bank details as is mentioned at Sl. No.- (2). Allotted candidates shall have to produce their payment documents of seat booking cum admission processing fees before the authority of the allotted college at the time of admission.

The rest of the admission process shall be done by the respective authorities of the colleges/institutes/centers of study. The allotted candidates only shall be admitted by them and under any circumstances, no candidate, beyond the published list, shall be admitted by them and in this case the University Authority shall not be responsible for Registration and Enrolment of any student if admitted, beyond the published list. Every college authority shall have to submit admission report to the university authority by mail (ic@buruniv.ac.in, secretary_ug@buruniv.ac.in) on completion of each round.

Payment of admission fee will be done only through e-payment or designated bank(s) [Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI/Net Banking] as to be provided by the respective authority of the college/institute/center of study.

All testimonials are required to be uploaded online during application. Verification of documents will be done by the respective college in due course. Admission will be cancelled if any of the document(s), submitted on-line, is/are not found in conformity with the original document(s) of the candidate.

Candidates, engaged in any other regular Course of Studies, shall not be allowed to pursue this programme simultaneously and their candidature shall be cancelled at any stage of study as and when detected. In-service candidates shall have to produce the NOC from their employers for pursuing this course at the time of admission failing which their candidature shall be liable to be cancelled.

As per BCI norm, the applicants who have obtained 10+2 or Graduation/ Post Graduation through the open University system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the law courses.

Fees: Fee for pursuing this programme in the Self-financed Colleges is Rs. 35,000/- per student per year. In addition, a student will pay Registration fee, Enrolment fee, Examination fee, Center fee, etc. of the university separately.

In case of prayer of cancellation of admission from the candidate’s end within the prescribed time frame, fees will be refunded as per the relevant circulars of the UGC and the Higher Education Department., Govt. of West Bengal.

In each college, students will be admitted within the approved intake (Bengal Law College- 60 & Amex Law College- 60) only. The respective college authorities must take appropriate steps for opening of the Academic Banks of Credit Account of each and every admitted student.

In regard to admission of the students to this programme, the Rules and the relevant Notifications of The University of Burdwan, The Govt. of West Bengal & The Bar Council of India shall strictly be followed by the colleges.
