Provisional Merit cum Rank List for Admission to Ph.D. Programme 2025 under the Faculty Council (Arts, Commerce, Law, Music etc.)

Important instructions to the candidates:

• Provisional Merit cum Rank List for admission to Ph.D. Programme 2025 under the Faculty of Arts etc. is published for information of all the candidates concerned.
• All admissions shall be made strictly based on merit and in accordance with the reservation policies of the Government of West Bengal.
• In case of identical Grade Point, preference has been given to determine the rank for preparation of Merit cum Rank List on the basis of:
  • Step-I: Higher % marks obtained in Master’s Degree;
  • Step-II: Higher % marks obtained in Bachelor’s Degree
  • Step-III: Higher % marks obtained in 12th Std. (10+2) Examination
  • Step-IV: Higher % marks obtained in 10th Std. Examination
  • Step-V: Date of Birth Signifying Seniority in age, with older candidate getting preference
• All statutory provisions for reservation of seats for various other eligible categories shall be duly honoured and considered during the admission and enrolment process, subject to adherence to the applicable norms, government policies, extent and any relevant orders issued by competent authorities.
• Subject wise Provisional Merit cum Rank List for admission to Ph.D. Programme 2025 under the Faculty of Arts etc. is based on the information provided by the candidates on the basis of criteria prescribed in the Information Brochure of the Ph.D. Admission 2025 under Arts Faculty, available in the University Website. It is the sole responsibility of the candidates to ensure adherence to the prescribed eligibility.
• The names of the candidates and other relevant details,submitted by them, have been extracted from the online submission and incorporation of the subsequent correction(s) made during Viva-voce on the basis of documentary evidence(s), for preparation of the Provisional Broad Rank list. In case of any incorrect/false input provided by any candidate, the candidature of that candidate will stand cancelled.
• Counseling Notice for admission to Ph.D. Programme 2025 will be published on 10/07/2026 in the University Website.
• Provisional Merit cum Rank List of the rest subjects such as Bengali, Education and Sociology will be published latter and counselling notices will be made available in due time.
• The link for proceeding with the payment of admission fees will be activated from 16/07/2026 to 18/07/2026 for Provisionally Selected Candidates.
• All admission based on merit, are provisional and only after the verification of the data/documents of the candidates, their admission shall be confirmed.
• The University reserves the right to rectify the list in case; an error is detected arising out of technical reasons.
• The University reserves all the rights to include any deserving candidate, if it is found that due to mistake on the part of the University, the name of such candidate has not been enlisted.
• The University reserves all the rights to drop or exclude any candidate or cancel the candidature of the candidate at any stage of admission and at a later stage, if it is found that the candidate has entered any of his/her data fraudulently/incorrectly at the time of submission of online application form for admission to the programme under the Faculty Council (Arts etc.), B.U.
