ADMISSION TO PG COURSE OF STUDIES IN LAW (LL.M.) UNDER THE FACULTY COUNCIL OF ARTS, ETC. FOR THE SESSION 2026-2028

Online applications are invited from the eligible intending candidates for admission to the PG Course of Studies in Law (LL.M.) for the Session 2026-2028 under Faculty Council (Arts, Commerce, Law etc.), The University of Burdwan. Online form will be available on the University website (www.buruniv.ac.in ) on and from 08/10/2026 to 22/10/2026.

Online submission of application form by a candidate does not automatically ensure his/her admission to the Programme.

The University reserves the right to drop or include any name if any suppression of facts on the part of the applicants or any mistake in the calculation of grade point is detected at any stage before and after admission. Rules/guidelines/Orders of The University of Burdwan, Govt. of West Bengal & UGC will be followed in case of admission to the above-mentioned course of studies.

- After successful submission of Application Form, all applicants are advised to take a Printout of the submitted Application form along with Application Sequence Number for future references.
- Candidates, while filling in the Application Forms, shall have to upload the relevant documents online. Candidature shall be cancelled if it is not found during verification or at any stage of the Programme that the uploaded documents are in conformity with the original documents.
- Candidates, engaged in any Job/Full-time Research Work, shall not be allowed to pursue this course unless NOC is provided by the appointing authority.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for admission to the Unreserved seats in PG Course of Studies in Law (LL.M.) under Faculty Council of Arts is minimum 50% marks in aggregate in the 3-Year or 5-Year Bachelor Degree in LL.B. Course from a BCI approved Centre of Study under a UGC recognized University. For the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/DA/SP/EWS categories, eligibility is minimum 45% marks in aggregate in the 3-Year or 5-Year Bachelor Degree in LL.B. Course from a BCI approved Centre of Study under a UGC recognized University.

Admission Test

Each applicant shall have to appear at the offline written Admission Test conducted by the University, otherwise application for admission to the 2-Year PG Course of Studies in Law (LL.M.) for the session 2026-2028 shall be cancelled.

Written Admission Test shall be based on the following:
• Questions shall be of MCQ type of 1mark each, comprising 50 questions.
• Questions shall be on Legal Aptitude and Current Affairs.
• There will be no negative marking for incorrect answer.

Selection Procedure

80% of the total Intake for the Students Passed-out from B.U.
80% of the total intake of LL.M. Course for 2-Year PG Course of Studies in Law will be allocated for the students passed-out from the BCI approved Law Colleges affiliated to the University of Burdwan or Department of Law of the University of Burdwan. Admission to these seats will be offered strictly on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated as stated in the Sl. No. 7 above. In case of identical Grade Point, preference shall be determined on the basis of:
• Step-I: Higher % of 12th Std. (10+2) Examination • Step-II: Higher % of 10th Std. Examination • Step-III: Date of Birth Signifying Seniority in age, with older candidate getting preference

20% of total Intake for the Students Passed-out from the University Other than B.U.
Remaining 20% of the total intake of LL.M. Course for 2-Year PG Course of Studies in Law will be allocated for the students passed-out from the BCI approved Colleges or Universities other than The University of Burdwan and seats will be offered strictly on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated as stated in the Sl. No. 7 above. In case of identical Grade Point, preference shall be determined on the basis of:
