It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that as per the Notification vide no. 1003-HED17014(99)/60/2022-CS-SEC-Dept. of HE, dated 31.08.2026, issued by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, the process of admission to 2-year B.P.Ed. Programme on Self-financed basis at Gitanjali College of Physical Education, Birbhum, under B.U., will start on and from 07/09/2026. Intending candidates are directed to visit the website of the university (www.buruniv.ac.in ) to have the Notice alongwith the Application Form Link.

The entire process of admission will run as per the following schedule:

Apart from this, admission to the above mentioned programme will be guided by the following guidelines:
  • Eligibility (As per NCTE norms):
    Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the Inter-College / Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
    OR
    Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with 45% marks.
    OR
    Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied Physical Education as compulsory elective subject with 300 marks.
    OR
    Bachelor’s Degree with 45% marks and having participated in National/Inter University/State Competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in Inter- College/ Inter-Zonal/District/ School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
    OR
    Bachelor’s Degree with participation in International Competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National/Inter University competition in sports and games as recognized by respective federations/AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
    OR
    Graduate with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in-service candidates i.e. trained physical education teachers/ coaches).

    [N.B. In-service untrained deputed school teachers of classes V-XII shall have to submit the NOC and the certificate of approved length of continuous service from their present employers for pursuing this course.]

    However, 5% marks relaxation will be given to SC, ST & DA Candidates.
  • There will be no reservation in seats in the Self-financed College by virtue of the Sl. No. 3 in the Notification of the Kolkata Gazette, vide Registered no. WB/SC-247, NO. WB (Part-I)/2014/SAR-6, dated 03.01.2014.
  • Admission to 2-year B.P.Ed. Programme in Self-financed College under B.U. will be done on the basis of merit. For generation of Merit List, Merit Score of each applicant will be computed in the manner as follows:
    • 15% of percentage marks obtained at 10th Standard Examination.
    • 15% of percentage marks obtained at 12th Standard Examination.
    • 20% of percentage marks obtained at Under-graduate Examination.
    • Sports Achievement Marks (highest achievement will be considered in case of multiple achievements ): International Level- 10, National Level- 8, Inter University Level- 6, State Level- 4, District Level (Inter College/School)- 2.
    • Physical Fitness Test- 40 marks.
  • In case of tie, the tie-breaking rules will be as follows:
    Step–I: Original Merit Score + Percentage marks obtained at Under-graduate Examination.

    Again tie, then
    Step–II: Total of Step- I + Percentage marks obtained at 12th Standard Examination.

    Again tie, then
    Step-III: Total of Step- II + Percentage marks obtained at 10th Standard Examination.

    Again tie, then
    Step-IV: Total of Step- III + Percentage marks of English at 12th Standard Examination.
  • The Merit List, mentioning the Rank, Name of the applicant and Merit Score etc., shall be published only on the University Website.
  • The rest of the admission process shall be done by the authority of the college concerned. Only the merit listed candidates shall be admitted and under any circumstances, no candidate, beyond the published merit list, shall be admitted and in this case the University Authority shall not be responsible for Registration and Enrolment of any student if admitted, beyond the published merit list. The college authority shall have to submit admission report to the university authority by mail (ic@buruniv.ac.in, secretary_ug@buruniv.ac.in) immediately after completion of each round.
  • Payment of admission fee will be done only through e-payment or designated bank(s) as to be provided by the college authority.
  • All testimonials are required to be uploaded online during application. Verification of documents will be done by the respective college in due course. Admission will be cancelled if any of the document(s), submitted on-line, is/ are found not in conformity with the original document(s) of the candidate.
  • Fresh Candidates, engaged in any other regular Course of Studies, shall not be allowed to pursue this programme simultaneously and their candidature shall be cancelled at any stage of study as and when detected.
  • Fees: Fee for pursuing this programme in the Self-financed Colleges is Rs. 65,000/- per student per year including the University Examination Fee. In addition, a student will separately pay Registration fee, Enrolment fee, Center fee, etc. of the university, if any.
  • In case of cancellation of admission of any student, fees will be refunded as per the relevant circulars of the UGC and the Higher Education Department., Govt. of West Bengal.
  • Intake Capacity: 100 of which Fresh Candidates will be allotted to 95 seats and untrained deputed school teachers of classes V-XII, will be allotted to 05 seats subject to their eligibility as per NCTE Regulations.
  • Communications will be done to the applicants through their registered email address only.
  • In regard to admission of the students to this programme, the Rules and the relevant Notifications of The University of Burdwan, The Govt. of West Bengal, The NCTE Regulations shall strictly be followed by the college.
