ADMISSION TO PG COURSES OF STUDIES IN M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. UNDER THE FACULTY
COUNCIL OF ARTS, ETC. FOR THE SESSION 2026-2028

Online applications are invited from the eligible intending candidates for admission to the PG Courses of Studies in M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. for the Session 2026-2028 under Faculty Council (Arts, Commerce, Law etc.), The University of Burdwan. Online form will be available on the University website (www.buruniv.ac.in ) on and from 08/09/2026 to 21/09/2026.

Online submission of application form by a candidate does not automatically ensure his/her admission to the Programme.

The University reserves the right to drop or include any name if any suppression of facts on the part of the applicants or any mistake in the calculation of grade point is detected at any stage before and after admission. Rules/guidelines/Orders of The University of Burdwan, Govt. of West Bengal, NCTE & UGC will be followed in case of admission to the above-mentioned course of studies.

Online Application Submission
  • After successful submission of Application Form, all applicants are advised to take a Printout of the submitted Application form along with Application Sequence Number for future references.
  • Candidates, while filling out the Application Forms, shall have to upload the relevant documents online. Candidature shall be cancelled if it is not found during verification or at any stage of the Programme that the uploaded documents are in conformity with the original documents.
  • Candidates, engaged in any Job/Full-time Research Work, shall not be allowed to pursue this course unless NOC is provided by the appointing authority

General Eligibility Criteria
Minimum marks for admission to the unreserved seats in PG Course of Studies in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) under Faculty Councils of Arts is 50% at the B.Ed. / B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.El.Ed. Course or Undergraduate Degree and D.El.Ed. with 50% marks and for M.Ed. Course of Studies under Faculty Councils of Arts is 50% at the BPE / B.P.Ed. Course from a NCTE approved Centre of Studies under a UGC recognized University. For candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBCNCL / DA / SP / EWS categories, eligibility is minimum of 45% marks in the concerned/relevant subject (As per Course/Program wise Qualifying Bachelor’s Degree, mentioned in the Sl. No.-7).
  • Eligibility Criteria for Admission to M.Ed. (Deputed):
    M.Ed. (Deputed): Deputed candidates with minimum 50% marks at the B.Ed. / B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.El.Ed. Course or Undergraduate Degree and D.El.Ed. with 50% marks from any NCTE recognized Institutions are eligible to apply under Unreserved Category. There shall be relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, SP and D.A. (Differently Abled) categories. Selection of deputed candidates will be made on calculation of their length of approved service only. In case of the uniformity in the length of service, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the B.Ed./B.A. B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./ B.El.Ed./ D.L.Ed. Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned B. Ed. Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in H.S Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit. At the time of admission, deputed candidates will have to produce the RELEASE ORDER from their employer, permitting them to prosecute the course of studies on full-time basis failing which their selection shall be cancelled.

    M.P.Ed. (Deputed): Deputed candidates with minimum 50% marks at BPE/B.P.Ed. from any NCTE recognized Institutions are eligible to apply. Selection Procedure
80% of the total Intake for Passed out of B.U. Students:
80% of the total intake of PG Course of Studies in M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. Course will be allocated for the students passed out from the NCTE approved Colleges affiliated to the University of Burdwan or Department of Education of the University of Burdwan. Admission to these seats will be offered strictly on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated as stated in Sl. No. 9. In case of identical Grade Point, Rank shall be determined on the basis of the manner stated below:
  • For Admission to M.P.Ed. Programme:
    • Step-I: Higher % of B.P.Ed./B.P.E. Examination
    • Step-II: Higher % of 12th Std. (10+2) Examination
    • Step-III: Higher % of 10th Std. Examination
    • Step-IV: Date of Birth Signifying Seniority in age, with older candidate getting preference
  • For Admission to M.Ed. Programme:
    • Step-I: Higher % of 12th Std. (10+2) Examination
    • Step-II: Higher % of 10th Std. Examination
    • Step-III: Date of Birth Signifying Seniority in age, with older candidate getting preference
20% of total Intake for Passed out of Other University Students:
Remaining 20% of the total intake of PG Course of Studies in M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. Course will be allocated for the students passed-out from the NCTE approved Colleges or Universities other than The University of Burdwan and seats will be offered strictly on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated as stated in the Sl. No. 8 above. In case of identical Grade Point, preference shall be determined on the basis of the manner stated below:
  • For Admission to M.P.Ed. Programme:
    • Step-I: Higher % of B.P.Ed./B.P.E. Examination
    • Step-II: Higher % of 12th Std. (10+2) Examination
    • Step-III: Higher % of 10th Std. Examination
    • Step-IV: Date of Birth Signifying Seniority in age, with older candidate getting preference
  • For Admission to M.Ed. Programme:
    • Step-I: Higher % of 12th Std. (10+2) Examination
    • Step-II: Higher % of 10th Std. Examination
