Online Counselling Notification and Instructions for Admission to Foreign Language Courses, session 2025-2026

ONLINE COUNSELLING NOTIFICATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES FOR PROVISIONAL ADMISSION TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES OF STUDIES IN FRENCH & RUSSIAN [SESSION: 2025-2026] (PHASE-1) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BURDWAN.

The students should take a note of the following points before making payment of the Admission Fees:

• The broad merit list has been prepared based on the system generated data without actual document verification. Candidates are, therefore,requested to verify their eligibility in accordance with the criteria as prescribed in the Information sheet.
• ALL ADMISSIONS ARE PROVISIONAL. Mere selection of candidates and payment of admission fees do not ensure confirmation of admission of a candidate in the course and in the Centre, unless the eligibility of the candidates is checked, and original credentials are found in order at the time of verification of documents by the department.
• If a candidate is found, before or after admission, not having the minimum eligibility of admission, then the university will have the right to cancel his/her admission without taking responsibility of refund of his/her admission fees. The University also reserves all rights to drop or to include any name, if any suppression of facts on the part of the students, any mistake on the part of the University or any error in the systemgenerated data, is detected at any stage before or after the admission. Further the University reserves the right to rectify the list of candidates selected for admission in the event of detection of any inadvertent error at any stage.
• In case a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility and merit criteria, he/she is requested not to proceed with the subsequent steps since it is likely that the admission will not be confirmed.
• ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES WILL BE CONFIRMED ONLY AFTER SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT OF ADMISSION FEES & DOCUMENT VERIFICATION, which will be done by the department.

  The online session through Google meet will be conducted only for merit-based selection/allotment of candidates.
  ,br> All the candidates as per ranks mentioned in this notification are directed to attend online session through Google meet compulsorily.
  
  Candidates should enter their respective Google Meet room at the scheduled time and wait for the administrator to admit them.
  
  Candidates, who do not log in and attend the session at the stipulated date and time will be marked “ABSENT”.
  
  Candidates must ensure that they are having good Internet connectivity during the session.
  
  Candidates shall keep their academic testimonials (including all marksheets and certificates) and SC/ST/OBCNCL/EWS certificates (for the reserved category candidates) in original with them. They will be required to produce the documents during the online session.
  
  All the candidates who have been asked to appear at the online session must ensure that their registered Mobile phones (the number mentioned during form filling-up) are not switched off. They should be ready to accept the phone calls from the office, if needed.
  
  In case a candidate is unable to attend the Online Counselling, he/she should recommend his/her authorized representative for the online session. If any candidate or his/her authorized representative fails to attend online counselling at the scheduled date and time, his/ her application for admission to the said courses for the session 2025-2026 shall be cancelled and he/she will not be considered for admission in the later stage.
  
  Mere attendance in the session doesn’t assure selection unless seat(s) is/are available. Hence, all candidates are asked to check the subject-wise Intake position before attending the session.
• All the Candidates are requested to Pay Rs. 2,275/- (Rupees Two Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-Five only) for taking Admission to the said courses.
• All the candidates can get access for payment by logging in into the dashboard of the admission portal of The University of Burdwan by putting their applicant id and password through the following link from 13/08/2026 to 15/08/2026. Access for Student Dashboard
• Students should ensure collection of E-receipt of successful payment generated in the online system of candidates with “Successful” payment status. Mere receipt of SMS from own bank is not sufficient to ensure successful payment. The University will not take responsibility of any payment failure caused due to network or any other problems. So, candidates are advised to check their “Successful” Payment status.
• Candidates, after paying the admission fees, should contact the HoDs/TICs of the respective departments through email immediately with a copy of the payment receipt as an attachment. Classes for the aforementioned subjects will commence from 17/08/2026 to the Department of Foreign Language, B.U.
• Reservation: As per rules of the Government concerned.
• Guidelines of Inter-Transferability/Conversion of Reserved Seats: As per rules of the Government concerned.
• In case seats reserved for SC Category remain vacant for want of eligible candidates, seats will be filled up by the eligible candidate from the list of ST Category and vice versa. If the seats of reserved Category remain vacant even invoking the principle of inter-transferability may be converted to seats under UR Category as per Govt. Rules.
• As per directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, it is notified that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him from the institution.
• Seats remaining vacant, if any, after the expiry of payment period will be filled up through a second provisional merit list (PHASE-2) which will be published later. Please visit the university website for any update.
• Non-payment of admission fees by any selected candidate of the provisional merit list (Phase-1) shall amount to cancellation of his/her candidature and in such context, such candidate will be debarred from participation in subsequent round(s) of the admission process.
