Online Session for merit-based selection /allotment of the candidates
for admission to 2-Year PG Programmes under NEP 2020 for the Session 2026-2028 under Faculty Council of Arts, etc.

Subject/Programme: Library and Information Sc., Women's Studies, MBA Programme [MBA / MBA (HR) / MBA (Tourism)]

Enlisted candidates of the above mentioned Subjects / Programmes bearing the Ranks mentioned below, are asked to attend the session COMPULSORILY for merit-based selection as per the following schedule:

The candidates should take note of the following instructions:

  • The online session through Google meet will be conducted only for merit-based selection/allotment of candidates.
  • All the candidates as per ranks mentioned in this notification, are directed to attend online session through Google meet compulsorily.
  • Candidates should enter their respective Google Meet room at the scheduled time and wait for the administrator to admit them.
  • Candidates, who do not log in and attend the session at the stipulated date and time will be marked “ABSENT”.
  • Candidates must ensure that they are having good Internet connectivity during the session.
  • Candidates shall keep their academic testimonials (including all marksheets and certificates) and SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS certificates (for the reserved category candidates) in original with them. They will be required to produce the documents during the online session, if necessary.
  • All the candidates who have been asked to appear at the online session must ensure that their registered Mobile phones (the number mentioned during form filling-up) are not switched off. They should be ready to accept the phone calls from the office, if needed.
  • In case, a candidate is unable to attend the Online Counselling, he/she should recommend his/her authorised representative for the online session. If any candidate or his/her authorized representative fails to attend online counselling at the scheduled date and time, his/ her application for admission to the 2-year PG Programme under NEP 2020 for the session 2026-2028 shall be cancelled and he/she will not be considered for admission in the later stage.
  • Mere attendance in the session doesn’t assure selection unless seat(s) is/are available. Hence, all candidates are asked to check the subject-wise Intake position before attending the session.
  • The Broad Rank List has been prepared based on system generated data without verification of actual document. Candidates are, therefore, requested to verify their eligibility in accordance with the criteria prescribed in the Information Brochure of the PG Admission 2026, available on the University Website.
  • In case, a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility and merit criteria, he/she is requested not to proceed with the subsequent steps since it is likely that the admission will be cancelled at the time of Document Verification.
  • Candidates, who are provisionally selected for admission to various 2-Year PG Course of Studies Under NEP 2020 for the session 2026-2028 at “Burdwan University Campus”, can get access for payment by logging into the dashboard of the admission portal of The University of Burdwan by putting their Application Sequence Number and password through the following link from 22/08/2026 to 23/08/2026: Access for Student Dashboard
  • Candidates, who will remain in “Accept and Upgrade” status, shall have to wait for confirmation of their admission status “Accept and Freeze” in the next phase of counselling after which rest amount of admission fee is to be paid to the finally allotted centre of studies.
  • In case of any issue/problem regarding payment / confirmation of admission status, candidates should contact immediately and definitely before the expiry of the stipulated period (email: secretary_arts@buruniv.ac.in or Call/WhatsApp to +91 94755 09303). No communication in this regard will be entertained after expiry of the payment period.
  • Students should ensure collection of System Generated E-receipt of payment, with “Successful” payment status. Mere receipt of SMS from own bank is not sufficient to ensure successful payment. So, candidates are advised to check and ensure their “Successful” Payment status.
  • After expiry of payment period, the list of the candidates having “Successful” Admission Status will be published on the university website.
  • All provisionally selected candidates must have to produce final Grade Card/ Mark Sheet of successful completion of Under Graduate Programme at the time of Document Verification and must fulfil the Minimum Eligibility Criteria. Failure to produce the required documents or to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria will result in the cancellation of admission.
  • ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES WILL BE CONFIRMED ONLY AFTER DOCUMENT VERIFICATION, which will be carried out by the Department/Centre of Studies concerned for the confirmation of admission. Notification for this purpose will be issued in due course of time. All the selected/allotted candidates who have successfully paid the admission fees with “Accept & Freeze” status, will have to produce and submit self-attested photocopies of the Application Form along with all testimonials including the relevant certificates and final Grade Card/Mark Sheet of successful completion of Under Graduate Programme, “Successful” Payment/Admission Receipt and hard copy of the AntiRagging undertaking on the date of document verification, failing which their admission to Post Graduate courses will be cancelled. All eligibility criteria will be checked during document verification. If it is found that the marks obtained by a candidate don’t match with the marks shown in the merit list (based on the information provided by the candidate in the Application Form), admission of that candidate may be liable to be cancelled. In case, a candidate is unable to attend the Document Verification, he/she must send his/her authorised representative for the same. If any candidate or his/her authorized representative fails to turn up on the date of Document Verification, Candidature of that Candidate for admission to 2-year PG Course, 2026 will be cancelled.
  • CLASSES FOR THE PROGRAMME HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMMENCED ON 07.08.2026 AND PROVISIONALLY SELECTED CANDIDATES OF THE AFORE-MENTIONED SUBJECTS/ PROGRAMMES ARE DIRECTED TO JOIN THEIR CLASSES AT THE RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT OF ADMISSION FEES. BUT ADMISSION WILL BE CONFIRMED AFTER DOCUMENT VERIFICATION.
  • ALL ADMISSIONS ARE PROVISIONAL. Mere selection of candidates and payment of admission fees do not ensure confirmation of admission unless the eligibility of the candidates is checked and original credentials are found in order at the time of verification of documents. If a candidate is found, before or after admission, not having the minimum eligibility of admission, then the university will have the right to cancel his/her admission without taking responsibility of refund of his/her admission fees. The University also reserves all rights to drop or include any name, if either any suppression of facts on the part of the students, or any mistake on the part of the University or any error in the system-generated data is detected at any stage before or after the admission.
  • If there is no candidate under UR-DA & SP Categories, then the seat(s) will be transferred to the UR Category. Under similar circumstances, seats of DA-SC/ST, DA-OBC NCL will be transferred to the respective Category. As per the reservation rules vide Govt. Order No.: 07-Edn (U)/1U-89/13.- dated. 2nd January, 2014 “for admission to different courses, an SC or ST candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category. In case of OBC-NCL the candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% from the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.”
  • Guidelines of Inter-Transferability/Conversion of Reserved Seats:
    23.1 In case seats reserved for SC Category remains vacant for want of eligible candidates, seats will be filled up by the eligible candidate from the list of ST Category and vice-versa.
  • Reservation for OBC candidates for admission will be as per Kolkata Gazette Notification vide no. 945- BCW/MR 23/2026, dated 18th May 2026 and the letter No. 1037(64)/Secy-BCW/MR-33/2025(Pt. V), dated 29.05.2026, issued by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal. For admission to the said Programme, an OBCNCL candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category. The list of 66 (Sixty-Six) classes, mentioned by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal vide Notification No. 945-BCW/MR23/2026, dated 18th May 2026, as OBC category, would get the benefit of 7% reservation.
  • The University reserves the right to rectify the list of candidates selected for admission in the event of detection of any inadvertent error, before or after payment of admission fees including cancellation of admission.
  • In compliance with the UGC, D.O. No 1-152029 (ARC) pt III, dated 24th May, 2023 and in pursuance to the Judgement of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, dated 08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No 887/2009, attention of all the applicants and parents are drawn to the “Regulations on Curbing the Menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009” notified by the UGC. The Regulations are available on the UGC website (www.ugc.ac.in )
    Ragging is completely banned in The University of Burdwan and its other centres of learning, and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or resorting to ragging in any form is liable to be appropriately punished as per law.

    The candidates who will be provisionally selected for admission to PG Course of Studies in various Subject/Programme for the session 2026-2028 are compulsorily required to complete the undertaking (if not completed in time of Application Form to the PG Admission-2026) by strictly following these instructions and must submit the hard copy of the Anti-Ragging undertaking in the time of Document Verification.

    As per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, it is notified that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution.
  • As already notified, non-payment of admission fees by any Provisionally Selected Candidate shall amount to cancellation of his/her candidature and in such context, they will be debarred from participation in subsequent rounds of the admission process.
  • Seats, if remains vacant after document verification of Phase-1, Phase-2 and Phase-3 will be filled up through Phase-4 Online Counselling. Please visit the university website for any update.
  • Refund of Admission Fees for Cancellation of candidature will be as per the extant rules of the UGC and the Govt. of West Bengal.
