Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to 1st Year of 2-Year LL.M. Course for the academic session 2026-2027 for the under mentioned Institutions / Colleges.
[In-service personnel of Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police will get preference]
PART-A (50% of total seats): C.U. B.A. LL.B. Hons. candidates will be selected from the Merit List prepared by the 50% weightage of percentage of marks obtained in 5-YR B.A. LL.B. Honours Exam from CU and 50% weightage on marks obtained in Entrance Test (CULET-PG).
PART-B (50% of total seats): For all eligible applicants to be selected by the marks obtained in Entrance Test (CULET-PG).

Eligibility: Passed Bachelor of Law.

Part-A candidates: 5-YR B.A. LL.B. Honours from CU candidates.

Part-B candidates:
a. 5-YR BALLB Honours from CU
b. 5-YR BALLB without honours from CU
c. Any Bachelor of law from CU & NON CU
d. 5-YR BALLB Honours from NON CU
e. 5-YR BALLB without honours from NON CU
f. Any such equivalent candidates

Application Fees:
Rs. 1,000/- (Non-refundable) for General and others.
Rs. 500/- (Non-refundable) for SC/ST/PWD.
Online Payment to be made on admission portal through Bill Desk Gateway.

Single online application: Candidate may apply in a single application for all the five (05) Colleges/Institutions or its part with order of preference.
Significance of Order of Preference
Higher preference will be open for up gradation in next phases of counseling and lower preferences will be closed. In some cases, a candidate may apply for more than one institute with Order of Preference. Candidate should give order of preference carefully; it may not be changed later. During Selection process, all the options of the candidate with Higher Merit will be considered first then the options of the next higher merit candidate will be considered. Once the candidate is selected in one option, all the lower options will be closed, keeping the higher options, if available, remains open for future chance. The preference 1 is higher option than preference 2 and so on. The candidate should select the institute as preference 1 which he/she thinks the best one and he/she intends to get admission, if he/she gets chance. Accordingly, 2nd best course as preference 2 and so on.
What is Higher Preference or Lower Preference?
Preference ‘1’ is highest preference. Preference ‘2’ is next higher preference and so on.

Merit List:

Part-A merit list will be prepared on the basis of 50% weightage of percentage marks obtained in 5-YR B.A. LL.B. Honours Exam from CU and 50% weightage on marks obtained in Entrance Test.

Part-B merit list will be prepared on the basis of Entrance Test marks obtained.

A) First Tie-Breaking Criteria: Candidates with a lower no. of wrong answer will be placed higher in rank.
B) Second Tie-Breaking Criteria: If the tie persists, the percentage of marks obtained in B.A. LL.B. level shall be taken into account. The candidate securing a higher percentage in B.A. LL.B. level will be ranked higher.

Name of PART-A applicants will be in the both PART-A & PART-B merit list.

Reservation: As per West Bengal Govt. rules / C.U. rules.
As per Govt. of WB order 7% Seats are reserved for 66 community of the OBC category (nonCreamy layer).

Selection Process:
-
Selection will be strictly on the basis of merit and subject to availability of vacant seats.

Selection Process for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PWD and In-service Police Personnel (KP & WBP)

Where merit list prepared on the basis of score with fractional weightage of different fractions (like percentage of entrance test marks obtained and percentage of qualifying exam marks obtained), the SC/ST/PWD candidate should obtain final score not lower than 25% than that of obtained by the last candidates selected in Unreserved Category in a specific institute.

Where merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the SC/ST/PWD candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower than 25% than that of obtained by the last candidates selected in UR Category.

Where merit list prepared on the basis of score with fractional weightage of different fractions (like percentage of entrance test marks obtained and percentage of qualifying exam marks obtained), the OBC/EWS candidate should obtain final score not lower than 10% than that of obtained by the last candidates selected in Unreserved Category in a specific institute.

Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the OBC/EWS candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower that 10% than that of obtained by the last candidates selected of Unreserved Category.

Counseling for both PART-A (50% of total seats) & PART-B (50% of total seats) will be held as per callup notice to be published on admission portal in due course.

If an applicant gets chance in different positions in both PART-A & PART-B, the higher preference will be offered to the applicant. If an applicant gets chance in same preference from both PART-A & PARTB and selected for admission, his/ her seat will be treated under PART-A.

If sufficient number of suitable SC/ST/PWD/OBC/EWS candidates are not available in PART-A, the seats may be filled up by the PART-B and vice-versa.

SC/ST/PWD/OBC/EWS Candidates securing equal or higher marks than the last candidate admitted from the unreserved category will be treated as “Unreserved Category” as well as respective reserve category.

In-service police personnel (ISPP) of Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police will get preference in the process of selection in Kolkata Police Law Institute.
-
Vacant seat if any in PART-A due to non-availability of suitable candidate may be filled up by the suitable candidate of PART-B and vice-versa.
