Single online application is invited from eligible candidate for admission to 1st semester of 5-years B.A. LL.B. & B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course for the academic session 2026-2027 of the under mentioned institutions.
An Entrance Test CULET-UG (Calcutta University Law Entrance Test Under Graduate) to be conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test.
Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit and availability of vacant seat through e-counseling.

Eligibility:

Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from the Board recognized by the University of Calcutta and there is no age bar.

Marks obtained in the 10+2 level examination from the Board recognized by the University of Calcutta.

GENERAL (UNRESERVED): At least 45% marks in best of four subjects.
(Excluding compulsory Environmental Studies.

SC/ST/ PWD (PERSON WITH DISABILITY) (Disability 40% or more): At least 40% marks to be obtained by the candidate in best of four subjects.
(Excluding compulsory Environmental Studies).

OBC/EWS: At least 42% marks to be obtained by the candidate in best of four subjects.

Candidate who has passed 10+2 from the Board other than WBCHSE, ISC, CBSE, Rabindra Mukto Vidyalay and NIOS must be obtained “EQUIVALANCE CERTIFICATE” from the office of the Registrar, (Equivalence Section) University of Calcutta, 87/1, College Street, Kolkata-700073 by a written application in plain paper with relevant photo copy of 10+2 Mark Sheet. Certificate will be required at the time of Admission. It will be safe to obtain the certificate before online application submission.

Foreign Student: Foreign National with last qualifying eligibility degree from Foreign Board has to apply in writing to the undersigned mentioning all previous degrees, mark sheets, certificates and syllabus of the last qualifying examination eligibility degree, High Commission Forwarding and AIU/UGC Equivalence Certificate. After preliminary verification they may be called for interview. If qualified in interview the C.U. equivalence certificate has to be collected. After getting equivalency clearance a provisional list will be prepared for approval of Vice-Chancellor, C.U. Lastly selected candidates will get admission with all required documents.
Foreign National with last qualifying eligibility degree from Indian universities/boards candidates may also apply like other Indian national candidates.

Reservation: As per the Govt. of West Bengal Rule: For SC 22%; ST 6%; OBC 7%; EWS 10% additional. For PWD 5% Horizontal Reservation.

Rs. 1,000/- for General Category, OBC, EWS and
Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PWD to be paid online through admission portal.

Candidate has to submit online application with all the colleges/institutes preferences or its part with order of preferences (with Hons. / Without Hons.) during the application process.

Significance of Order of Preference
-
A candidate may apply for more than one institute with Order of Preference. Candidate should give order of preference carefully; it may not be changed later. Higher preference will be open for up gradation in next phases of e-counseling and lower preferences will be closed.

The preference ‘1’ is high option than preference ‘2’ and so on. The candidate should select the Institute as preference ‘1’ which he/she thinks the best one and he/she intends to get admission, if he/she gets chance. Accordingly, 2nd best Institute as preference ‘2’ and so on.

During Selection process, all the options of the candidate with Higher Merit will be considered first then the options of the next higher merit candidate will be considered. Once the candidate is selected in one option, all the lower options will be closed, keeping the higher options, if available, remains open for future chance.

Hall Ticket Generation:
Based on the data submitted, a hall ticket is automatically generated for the CULET-UG 2026 entrance test. (See the Admission Schedule for details)

Important Instructions for Candidates:
For CULET-UG 2026 in CBT (Computer Based Test) Mode:
For Date, Time of Exam, Venue and Reporting Time: Please check Entrance Test Schedule available on the website as well as in Hall Ticket.

Under no circumstances, entry to exam hall will be allowed without this Hall Ticket. Candidates should check the Hall Ticket carefully and bring discrepancies, if any, to the notice of the University's office immediately.

If the photograph or signature on the Hall Ticket is defective or illegible or missing, candidates are requested to draw the notice of the authority & to bring 2 (two) stamp size photographs along with any one of the following documents:
(i) Madhyamik or equivalent certificate bearing photograph,
(ii) PASSPORT,
(iii) PAN Card,
(iv) AADHAAR Card,
(v) EPIC (Voter Identity Card) and
(vi) Driving License.

Candidate should report at their respective test center 90 minutes before exam start time. Entry to the test center will be closed 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam.

ADMISSION TO THE EXAMINATION IS PURELY PROVISIONAL SUBJECT TO DETERMINATION OF ELIGIBILITY IN TERMS OF THE ADVERTISEMENT.

The Examination will be CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.

Paper required for rough work will be provided at the Examination Hall. On Screen Scientific Calculator will be available on computer screen at the time of Examination.

Full Marks: 100, Time: 2:00 Hour.

Only Hall ticket, photo ID card and pen will be allowed inside the Test Hall.

Mobile phones, cap/hat, electronic gadgets, watches, calculators, stationery items, papers, wallets, goggles, jackets and any jewellery or items containing metal will NOT BE ALLOWED inside the Test Hall.

There is no facility for safekeeping of your personal belongings outside the test hall and nobody will be responsible for any kind of loss.

Specially eligible PWD candidates may avail extra time of 20 minutes per hour for the test subject to prior approval from appropriate authority of the University. Those PWD candidates who require any special assistance due to medical reason must seek prior approval letter from Calcutta University by 7 days prior to the date of entrance test. Please write to (helpdesk email ID) along with applicable medical certificate to request for approval. The decision from Calcutta University in this regard stands final.

You will be awarded (+1 marks) for each correct answer, (-0.25 Marks) for each wrong answer and Zero for no try.

Normal instruction of Examination and practices of Demo Mock Link will be available in the University Website in due time.

No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before completion of the examination.

Hall Ticket issued on the basis of data provided by the candidate, without any verification. Mere appearance in Entrance Tests not be claimed as eligible for admission, application will be treated as cancelled if found ineligible even after Entrance Tests and after admission also.

NO CHANGE OF TEST CENTRE WILL BE ENTERTAINED.
