Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to 1st Year of 2-year LL.M. Course for the academic session 2025-2026 for the under mentioned Institutions / Colleges. 50% of the total number of seat is reserved for C.U. B.A. LL.B. Hons. candidates (PART-A) and rest of 50% seats for all (PART-B).

[Preferably for in-service personnel of Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police.]

PART-A (50% of total seats): C.U. B.A. LL.B. Hons. candidates will be selected from the merit list prepared by the marks obtained in C.U. B.A. LL.B. Hons. examination.

PART-B (50% of total seats): For all to be selected by the marks obtained in CULETPG, 2025 (Calcutta University Law Entrance Test).

  • Eligibility: Passed/appeared final year Bachelor of Law. Appeared candidates have to submit final marks and upload final mark sheet at the portal between 18/11/2024 to 22/11/2024.
    • Part A candidates: 5 YR BALLB Honours from CU candidates
    • Part B candidates:
      a) 5 YR B.A. LL.B. Honours from CU
      b) 5 YR B.A. LL.B. without honours from CU
      c) Any Bachelor of law from CU & NON CU
      d) 5 YR B.A. LL.B. Honours from NON CU
      e) 5 YR B.A. LL.B. without honours from NON CU
      f) Any such equivalent candidates
  • Application Fees:
    Rs. 800/- (Non refundable) for General and others
    Rs. 400/- (Non refundable) for SC/ST/PWD
    Online Payment to be made on admission portal through BILL DESK Gateway.
  • Single online application: Candidate may apply in a single application for all the five (05) Colleges/Institutions or its part with order of preference.

    Significance of Order of Preference
    Higher preference will be open for up gradation in next phases of counseling and lower preferences will be closed.
    In some cases a candidate may apply for more than one institute with Order of Preference. Candidate should give order of preference carefully; it may not be changed later. During Selection process, all the options of the candidate with Higher Merit will be considered first then the options of the next higher merit candidate will be considered. Once the candidate is selected in one option, all the lower options will be closed, keeping the higher options, if available, remains open for future chance. The preference 1 is higher option than preference 2 and so on. The candidate should select the institute as preference 1 which he/she thinks the best one and he/she intends to get admission, if he/she gets chance. Accordingly 2nd best course as preference 2 and so on.

    What is Higher Preference or Lower Preference?
    Preference ‘1’ is highest preference. Preference ‘2’ is next higher preference and so on.
  • Date of online Submission of Application Form & Application Fee: 02/01/2026 to 12/01/2026.
  • Entrance Test (CULET-PG-2025):
    • Duration: 02 hours.
    • Syllabus: C.U.B.A.LL.B. Syllabus.
    • Question Type: MCQ (100 no. of questions with 1 mark each & no negative marks).
    • Full Marks: 100.
    • Mode of Entrance Test: Computer Based Test (CBT).
    • Venue of Entrance Test Centre: TCS, Gitobitan, Plot No. 54 & 55, Street No. 18, DN Block, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata – 700091, West Bengal.
    • Date of Entrance Test: 27/01/2026 (Tuesday).
    • Download of Hall Ticket: will be notified after last date of submission of application.
    • Publication of Entrance Test Result: to be announced after Entrance Test.
    • Entrance Test is mandatory for Part-B candidates.
    • Entrance Test is optional for Part-A candidates.
    • If appeared in the entrance test his/her name will be in the both Part-A & Part-B merit list.
    • If do not appear in the entrance test his/her name will be only Part-A merit list.
    • Hall tickets for all Part-B candidates including Part-A candidates those are interested in the Entrance Test to be prepared.
  • Merit List:
    • Part A merit list will be prepared on the basis of % of marks obtained in 5 YR BALLB Honours Exam from CU.
    • Part B merit list will be prepared on the basis of Entrance Test marks obtained.
    • A) First Tie-Breaking Criterion: Candidates with a lower no. of wrong answer will be placed higher in rank.
      B) Second Tie-Breaking Criterion: If the tie persists, the percentage of marks obtained in B.A. LL.B. level shall be taken into account. The candidate securing a higher percentage in B.A. LL.B. level will be ranked higher.
  • Reservation: As per West Bengal Govt. rules / C.U. rules.
  • Selection Process:
    • Selection will be strictly on the basis of merit and subject to availability of vacant seats.
    • Selection Process for SC,ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, PWD and In-service Police Personnel (KP & WBP)
      • Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the SC/ST/PWD candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower than 25% than that of obtained by the last candidates admitted of UR Category in a specific institute.
      • Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the OBCA/OBC-B/EWS candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower that 10% than that of obtained by the last candidates admitted of Unreserved Category in a specific institute.
      • SC/ST/PWD/OBC-A/OBC-B/EWS Candidates securing equal or higher marks than the last candidate admitted from the general category in a specific institute will be treated as "Unreserved Category" as well as respective reserve category in a specific institute.
      • In-service police personnel (KP & WBP) will get preference in Kolkata Police Law College.
      • Reservation of OBC Category may be modified in future before admission as per legal advice accepted by the C.U.
    • Physical counseling for both PART-A (50% of total seats) & PART-B (50% of total seats) will be held as per call-up notice to be published on admission portal in due course.
