Admission to M.Com. Course of Studies (2026-2028)
Online submission of Applications for Admission to the Post Graduate Courses in Commerce (M.Com.) in the University Department of Commerce for the academic session 2026-2027 will start on and from May 11, 2026 and shall continue till May 20, 2026. 3-Years B.Com. Honors/Major in Single Subject or its equivalent Graduates of University of Calcutta and Autonomous Colleges and Other Universities graduating not beyond 2022 are eligible to apply.
Candidate who have appeared at the 5th semester examinations under CCF System; are eligible to apply with a condition that they have to upload their mark sheets before the last date of online submission of application or window period for correction whichever is later. The portal will be available from 11/05/2026.

CU or Non-CU UG Students having Honours / Major in a single Subject and having Passed/Appeared in the 5th Semester Examination and are pursuing 6th semester in 2026 (Under CCF System) are eligible to apply for admission subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.

CU or Non-CU UG Students having Honors and having Passed/Appeared in the 5th Semester Examination and are pursuing 6th semester in 2026 (Under CBCS System) are eligible to apply for admission subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.

Students having passed Honours (under 1+1+1 System) are also eligible to apply for admission.

CU or Non-CU Students having passed 3-years Honours not beyond 2022 (Current year i.e. 2026 plus 4 preceding years i.e. 2022) are also eligible to apply for admission subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.

PG Degree holders are not eligible to apply for any PG Course further.

Candidates who were admitted to any PG Course previously are not eligible to apply.

UG Degree holders in MDC (Multi Disciplinary Subjects) / General Graduates are not eligible to apply for any admission to PG Course further.

Students having Honors with a Core Vocational Subject are not eligible to apply for admission to PG Course.

CU or Non-CU candidates with final mark sheet showing SNC (semester not cleared) are not eligible. Eligibility for admission to P.G. Course is subject to uploading/Production of all clear mark sheets of all years or all semesters within the stipulated time.
(A clear mark sheet means the one which does not show Fail/Arrear etc in any subject of any year/any semester mark sheet.)

Application Form will be rejected if all semesters cleared mark sheets including 5th Semester is not produced within the stipulated time which will be notified in the Admission Schedule.

Ordinarily students having Honors / Major in a single Subject and having obtained 4.0 CGPA in 3-years UG Degree Course up to 6 semesters ( Under CCF System) are eligible for admission subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.

Students having passed all semesters including 5th Semester will be considered for provisional admission for this year subject to production of all cleared mark sheets up to 5th semester before the notified period. The provisional admission will be cancelled if the eligibility criteria given in Clause 10 of this Section are not fulfilled.

UG Degree holders having less than 120 credits in Hons /Single Major Subject up to 6 Semesters or less than 50% of 120 credits from the Core Courses /Major Discipline as per NEP 2020 are not eligible to apply for admission to PG. Courses.

80% of the total intake capacity of a course will be earmarked for 2 years PG Courses and 20% of the total intake capacity of a course will be earmarked for 1 year PG Courses.

For 1 year PG Courses, the total number of seats will be 20% of the total intake capacity plus the number of available vacancy arising out of reasons whatsoever.

60% seats out of 80% of the total intake capacity will be earmarked for PART-A category which will be filled up by Current Year (2026) Students of University of Calcutta, under CCF System only.
-
40% seats out of 80% of the total intake capacity will be earmarked for PARTB category which will be filled up by CU or NON-CU Students of Current Year (2026) and Previous Years up to 2022, under CBCS/1+1+1 years System.
-
100% intake capacity is earmarked for 2-Yrs PG Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc-M.Lib.I.Sc. Course.

Before filling up Application Form, candidates must go carefully through the details in this Information Brochure.

There will be three separate Admission Portals: one for M.A & M.A/M.Sc.; Second for M.Com and third for Journalism &Mass Communication.

Application Forms found to be incomplete or supported by insufficient documents even after the notified period for correction or updating will be summarily rejected.

If an Applicant is found to have suppressed any fact/information regarding previous degree his/her application will be summarily rejected.

The admission of a candidate will be cancelled, at any stage, if he/she is found to have suppressed any fact/information regarding previous degree, year of passing or any information which may render him ineligible.

The detailed admission schedule (i.e., dates, time, venue etc.) will be notified from time to time in the admission portal of the University Website.

All information, given in the Brochure, is provisional and subject to change from time to time, and will be notified through the University Website in the admission portal.

All admission to any PG Course will be provisional subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and other regulations.

Admission will be cancelled at any stage if a candidate is found to have not cleared all/any of the 6 (Six) Semesters’ examinations or have obtained less than 4.0 CGPA in 3-Years Hons. or Single Major Subject (under CCF System) or to have submitted False/Untrue information or insufficient documents.

In accordance with the National Education Policy, the University has decided to offer two courses for Post Graduation.
i) 2 years PG Program for students intending to pursue after 3 (Three) years UG Honours/Major in Single Subject Degree course
ii) 1 Year PG Program for students intending to pursue after 4 (Four) years UG Honours with Research/Major in Single Subject Degree course under CCF System (Details to be provided Later)

Only 2-years PG Program will be offered for Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc. - M.Lib.I.Sc.

Entrance Test is mandatory for all applicants of PART-A and PART-B Categories.
-
There will be no Entrance Test for a PG Course in case the number of applications is less than the intake capacity.

There will be no separate Entrance Test for Multi disciplinary Courses like; Archaeology; Buddhist Studies; Comparative Indian Language and Literature; Integrated B.Lib.I.ScM.Lib.I.Sc.; Lingistics; Museology; Pali; South and South East Asian Studies etc.

There will be only one common group (330) and one common Entrance Test for History (315), Ancient Indian History (323) and Culture & Islamic History and Culture (324).

Applicant must select group(s) and course(s); in order of the preference he/she intends to apply. System will automatically generate the required No(s) of Application Form(s), Acknowledgement Slip, e-Receipt etc.

Order of preference (Group/Course) must be selected very carefully. A window period for correction/editing may be provided, but after the last date for correction/editing is over, no change/correction/editing in the Application Form will be allowed.
Therefore, the following points must be ensured:
i) Number of Group(s) to be applied.
ii) Order of preference of the Course(s) to be opted.
iii) The application form must reflect the Order of preference in ascending order (i.e.1,2,3,4,5....) and not in a random order (i.e.1,3,4,2,6,5....).

Year of qualifying UG Honours/Major in single Subject will strictly be 2026 or preceding 4 years till 2022 and not beyond.

The admission of Non-C.U. candidates having qualified from any University/University approved colleges outside the state of West Bengal through regular or distance mode, is subject to equivalence of their U.G. Course of Study with respect to the under graduate course of study offered by C.U. The equivalence Department of C.U will issue a certificate of equivalence after verification of relevant documents. However, Non-C.U candidates passing out in regular mode from different Universities of West Bengal will not require any equivalence certificate.
A domicile certificate procured in the appended formats, from a competent authority under Govt. of West Bengal must be uploaded at the time of submission of application form by candidates applying under reserved categories with SC/ST/OBCA/OBCB/PWD/EWS certificates issued by a state other than West Bengal, (see Section-5 & 17 of Information Brochure). A domicile certificate procured from his/her state of Origin will not be accepted. Kindly visit the website of CU frequently and follow the information, instruction, notification and admission schedules which will be uploaded from time to time in course of admission process.

The Two (2) years Post Graduate M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc. - M.Lib.I.Sc. Course (Under CCF System as per NEP 2020) shall be for a minimum duration of 4 consecutive semesters of 6 months each i.e. two (2) years. (Odd Semester: July to December; Even Semester: January to June)
