Notification for PG Online Admission for the session 2026-27

This is for the information of all concerned that as per the decision of the Admission Committee meeting held on 14.07.2026, admissions to the Gauhati University Post Graduate programmes will be held through the SAMARTH portal (online mode only). As such, students and guardians need not visit the university on the days of admissions.

In this regard, the following points are to be noted:

• The admission will take place as per the Provisional Merit list to be published on 23rd July, 2026.
• The students using their login credentials (same as the ones used for the application process) are required to remain logged in to the admission portal (https://gauhatiadmission.samarth.edu.in/pg/index.php ) during the timeline mentioned hereunder for the specific programmes and check for the payment link.
• The students will be shortlisted department-wise for admission in the order of merit, as per the provisional merit list published on 23rd July, 2026, following the statutory reservation policy by the concerned academic departments, following the admission policy of Gauhati University for GU-PG admissions 2026.
• In the event of being shortlisted for admission, the shortlisted candidates will receive an update- "Shortlisted for admission" along with a payment link against the submitted application in the application/ admission portal.
  They must mandatorily make the payment within 2 hours of receiving the payment link. The programme- specific fees may be checked in Annexure A, attached to this notification.
• It is to be noted that failure to make the necessary payment of admission fees online through the integrated payment gateway within the stipulated payment window of 2 hours from receipt of the payment link shall be construed as non-willingness of the selected candidate to take admission in the selected programme, and the admission offer will automatically stand forfeited. Accordingly, the seat shall be made available to the next eligible candidate, and any request for consideration of a forfeited candidature shall not be considered under normal circumstances.
• Applicants are advised to check their registered email and mobile numbers for any further updates and important communications in general, and especially on the days of admissions.
• It is to be noted that all admissions granted in the PG programmes for the Academic Session 2026-27 are strictly provisional and shall remain so subject to verification of original documents by the University. Original document verification shall be conducted within the first week of commencement of classes for the Academic Session 2026-27. Admission shall stand confirmed only upon successful verification of the original documents against those uploaded on the admission portal.
• If any discrepancy, falsification, or misrepresentation between the documents uploaded on the portal and the original hard copies produced at the time of verification is both detected and established beyond a reasonable doubt, the University shall, after providing the candidate a brief opportunity to be heard, may accordingly cancel the candidature of the applicant forthwith.
