Admission Notification to Minor Degree in Quantum Technology, Department of Physics, GU 2026

This is for information of all concerned that the admission is open for the new Minor Degree Course in Quantum Technology in the Department of Physics, Gauhati University. The 18-credit, six-semester course is a undergraduate top-up Degree course, under National Quantum Mission (NQM) of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, adopting syllabus from Model Curriculum framed by DST and AICTE in Dec 2024. This course brings a national-priority, future-ready skill to the North-East India, vital for secured communication, defence, healthcare, finance and future R&D in the fields like Quantum chips and Quantum Computation. With this, Gauhati University becomes the first higher education Institution in the NE India to introduce this course.

Course Highlights:

• Top-up Degree in addition to parent (B.Tech degree), in harmony with NEP 2020
• Duration - Six semesters (one course of 3 credits per semester)
• Course Fee - Rs. 6500/- per semester
• Eligibility - Students of 3rd semester of all the B.Tech courses of Gauhati University
• After successful completion of the course, an additional Minor Degree will be awarded along with the parent B.Tech Degree
