2nd Counseling for Admission into B.Tech Programme 2026

The 2^nd counseling for admission against a few vacant seats in the following branches of the B.Tech programmes of Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST) for the Academic Session 2026–27 will be conducted on 12^th August 2026 (Wednesday) from 10:30 a.m. based on the CEE (Assam)-2026 and JEE (Main)-2026 score.

Programmes:

• B.Tech in Biotechnology (BT)
• B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
• B.Tech in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence (R&AI)

Counseling Schedule:

• Based on JEE (Main)-2026 score: From 10:30 a.m. onwards
• Based on CEE (Assam)-2026 score: Immediately after the completion of the counselling process for JEE (Main)-2026 candidates.

Mode of Counseling:

In view of the prevailing flood situation in Assam, the counseling and admission process will be conducted only in ONLINE mode. It is to be noted that the online admission will be solely provisional and confirmation of admission will be after physical document verification.

Documents Verification:

Candidates provisionally allotted seats are required to report to the GUIST office for physical documents verification between 12^th August to 17^th August 2026. Candidates must produce all original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies of the documents prescribed in the Admission Brochure–2026.

Procedure for Online counseling and admission:

1. Candidates are advised to keep scanned copies (pdf only) of their final marksheet, permanent resident certificate (PRC), EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST certificate (wherever applicable) ready before the commencement of the counseling process.
2. Candidates should remain logged in to the email account registered on the SAMARTH portal. All communications, including the link for submission of the ONLINE counseling application, will be sent to the registered email address.

Candidates shall submit the ONLINE counseling application by selecting the preferred available branch.

3. Upon submission of the online application and successful verification by GUIST, the payment link will be made available through the SAMARTH portal.
4. Candidates shall remain logged in to the SAMARTH portal to complete the admission process.
5. The admission fee of Rs. 28,980/- + Rs. 1,000/-, should be paid within 30 minutes after the provisional allotment of a seat through the SAMARTH portal.
6. After successful payment, the payment receipt will be available for download from the SAMARTH portal.
7. Candidates shall report to the GUIST Office for document verification and submit the prescribed documents along with the downloaded payment receipt.
8. The number of vacant seats available under each programme will be displayed only during the counseling process.

Date of spot counseling (If required):

In the event that vacant seats remain after the 2^nd round of counseling, an additional round of spot counseling will be conducted on 13^th August 2026, Thursday and will be notified accordingly.

General Instructions:

1. All seat allotments made during the counseling shall be purely provisional and will be subject to verification of the original documents and fulfillment of all eligibility criteria prescribed by Gauhati University.
2. If, at any stage, any information furnished by a candidate is found to be incorrect or if the candidate is found ineligible during verification of the supporting documents, the provisional admission shall stand cancelled without further notice.
3. Candidates admitted during the 1^st Counselling and intending to withdraw their seats shall WITHDRAW their admission through the SAMARTH portal on or before 12^th August 2026 by 9:00 a.m. and apply for refund to the GUIST office by 13^th August, 2026. The refund of fee, wherever applicable, shall be processed as per the Gauhati University Rules.
