Provisional Merit List for Gender and Women's Studies 2026

Admissions to the Post Graduate Programmes of Gauhati University for the Academic Session 2026–27 shall be conducted online only through the SAMARTH Admission Portal. Candidates and their guardians are not required to visit the University on the scheduled admission dates.

Candidates have been shortlisted on a programme-wise merit basis and the Provisional Merit List appears on the following pages.

Candidates are advised to log in to the admission portal using the same credentials used during the application process and regularly monitor their dashboard during the admission schedule for updates and the admission fee payment link.

Candidates shortlisted for admission will see the status "Shortlisted for Admission" along with an online payment link on their dashboard. The admission fee must be paid within two-hours of the activation of the payment link. Failure to complete the online payment within the prescribed Two-hour payment window shall be treated as the candidate's unwillingness to accept the admission offer. In such cases, the admission offer shall stand automatically cancelled, the seat shall be allotted to the next eligible candidate, and requests for restoration of the forfeited candidature shall ordinarily not be entertained. Candidates are advised to regularly check their dashboard, registered email address, and mobile phone for important updates.

All admissions are strictly provisional and subject to verification of the original documents submitted by the candidates. Original document verification will be conducted during the first week of commencement of classes. Admission shall be confirmed only after successful verification of the original documents against those uploaded on the admission portal.

If any discrepancy, falsification, or misrepresentation is detected between the uploaded documents and the original documents produced during verification, the University reserves the right to cancel the admission after providing the candidate an opportunity to be heard.

Candidates eligible for the Fee Waiver Scheme of Government of Assam, may avail the fee waiver during the admission process, subject to the applicable rules and guidelines.

Online Payment Related Instructions:
It is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates, irrespective of their eligibility under the Fee Waiver Scheme, to click on the Payment Link in the admission portal. Admission will be confirmed in the system only after this step is completed.

Candidates found eligible for the Fee Waiver Scheme by the University will receive a Payment Link (for zero payment). They are required to click on the link to complete the admission process. No payment is required, and the admission will be confirmed automatically upon successful completion of this step.

Candidates who are not eligible for the Fee Waiver Scheme must click on the Payment Link, which will redirect them to the integrated payment gateway. They are required to pay the prescribed admission fee. Admission will be confirmed only after the payment is successfully completed.

This list is for immediate reference only. In case of any mistake that might have crept into it, the University reserves the right to modify or cancel this list as and when necessary if required.

Merely appearing in the Entrance Test does not confer any right to the candidate for admission to the programme.

For any admission-related query, please contact departmental nodal officer. The list of nodal officers for the individual department shall be available on the university before the day of admission.

Anti-Ragging Declaration: All admitted candidates shall submit the Anti-Ragging Undertaking through the Anti-Ragging Portal (http://www.antiragging.in/) during the first week of commencement of classes. Failure to submit the undertaking within the stipulated period may result in cancellation of the admission.
