Lateral Entry to 3rd, 5th and 7th Semesters of FYUGP and FYIMP Programmes

This is for the information of all concerned that students may apply for lateral admission with the same subject combination to 3^rd, 5^th and 7^th semesters of Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) in affiliated colleges under Gauhati University (GU) and Five Year Integrated Masters Programme (FYIMP) at GU campus after successfully completing the courses offered in their first year (1^st & 2^nd semester), second year (3^rd and 4^th semester) and third year (5^th and 6^th semester) classes respectively.

The students shall have to apply in the Samarth portal for lateral admission, and their admission shall be subject to the following conditions:

1. Seats must be available in the institution where the student applies for lateral admission.
2. The applicant student must not have any backlogs in any of the earlier semesters.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR LATERAL ENTRY:

1. All lateral entry admissions to programmes in the University and affiliated Colleges shall be conducted exclusively through the Assam Lateral Entry Admission Portal (https://assamadm-le.samarth.ac.in/) as notified by the Director of Higher Education, Assam, vide Notification No. 775718/15 dated 2nd July, 2026. No offline or parallel admission process shall be permitted.
2. The total number of seats available for admission under lateral entry shall comprise (i) vacant seats out of the approved/sanctioned seats in each department, and (ii) supernumerary seats ranging from 5 to 10 per cent, subject to availability of infrastructure and faculty. Admissions against vacancies arising from approved/sanctioned seats shall be made strictly against the admission category in which the vacancy has arisen, whereas this category-wise restriction shall not apply to supernumerary seats. Each affiliated College shall, in compliance with this lateral entry policy, notify the subject-wise seat matrix on its official website prior to the commencement of the lateral entry admission process for each academic session.
3. Eligible candidates shall apply online through the designated portal within the notified admission schedule.
4. The merit list for lateral entry shall be prepared separately for each category and each discipline and semester strictly on the basis of merit.
5. The eligibility of all lateral entrants shall be verified by the University / concerned affiliated College(s) before admission is confirmed.
