1. Candidates who have obtained a 1-year/2-semester Master’s Degree after a 4-year/8- semester Bachelor’s Degree, or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s Degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or its equivalent grade), are eligible to apply. Candidates with a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme (with Research) must have secured a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed. Candidates possessing an M.Phil. degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) are also eligible to apply.
2. A relaxation of 5% marks, or an equivalent relaxation in grade, may be granted to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and other categories as per the provisions of the UGC Regulations and the notifications issued by the Government of West Bengal from time to time
3. Subject to the fulfillment of the conditions stipulated in clauses (1), or (2) above, candidates who have qualified in the UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET under any of the prescribed categories (i.e., eligible for admission to Ph.D. with JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor; eligible for admission to Ph.D. without JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor; or eligible for admission to Ph.D. only), as well as candidates who have qualified in SET/SLET/GATE/ICMR/CEED/DBT or similar national-level tests, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.
4. Candidates in the final semester/year of the qualifying degree may apply provisionally; such candidates must produce the final mark sheet/degree certificate before the date of interview/admission, failing which their candidature shall stand cancelled
5. Reservation as per existing rules and regulations would be followed. Any further direction from the higher authorities regarding reservation policy will be duly implemented
6. Relaxation as per the UGC Guidelines.
7. In-service candidates have to submit “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” from their Employer during the time of admission.
