The Former Sanskrit College has been conferred the status of a University by The Sanskrit College and University, West Bengal Act XXXIII of 2015.

Indian Students who have passed Honours/Major in single subject in any discipline from any recognized University can apply online through the Website www.sanskritcollegeanduniversity.ac.in for admission to the Two year Postgraduate Programme.

Online application will be started from 16th June, 2026.
Applicant students are advised to visit the University website (www.sanskritcollegeanduniversity.ac.in ) regularly for updates.

Eligibility Criteria for Application
  • SCU or Non-SCU UG Students having Honours / Major in a single Subject and having Passed in the 5th Semester Examination and are pursuing 6th semester in 2026 under NEP or CBCS are eligible to apply for admission subject to fulfilment of other eligibility criteria.
  • SCU or Non-SCU UG Students completed Honours / Major in a single Subject (3 years or 6 semesters) passed in 4 preceding years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) under NEP or CBCS are also eligible to apply for admission subject to fulfilment of other eligibility criteria.
  • UG Degree holders having minimum 120 credits in Hons./Single Major Subject up to 6 Semesters (3 years) and minimum 50% of 120 credits from the Core Courses/Major Discipline as per NEP 2020 are eligible to apply for admission to PG Courses. One who seeks admission to the PG programme in a discipline corresponding to their Minor discipline needs to study minimum 12 credits in that Minor subject of their Hons./Single Major degree course up to 6 semesters (3 years).
  • An Indian student who passed Honours/Major in single Subject course (3 years/6 semesters) shall be eligible for admission to the PG programme in a discipline that corresponds to either the Major or Minor(s) or any discipline studied during the Undergraduate (UG) programme.
    (Please see the subject wise eligibility criteria page no. 14 )
  • UG Degree holders in MDC (Multi-Disciplinary Subjects) / General Graduates or Honors with a Core Vocational Subject are not eligible to apply for admission to PG Course.
  • For those who join 2-year PG programmes, there shall only be one exit point. Students who exit at the end of 1st year shall be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma.
  • Academic session will be July to December for Odd Semester, and January to June for Even Semester.
Application and Admission Process
Instructions:
  • Visit the University website, www.sanskritcollegeanduniversity.ac.in , and Find PG Admission section then click on “Apply Now for New Applicant” to begin the application process.
  • Carefully read all instructions provided in the link and complete the application form in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
  • After successful submission of the online application form, applicants must download and retain a printed copy of the completed application form for future reference and verification purposes.
  • Merit lists shall be published on the dates specified in the admission schedule:
    • Merit List shall be prepared based on aggregate percentage of marks obtained from 1st to 5th semester of UG programme.
    • For candidates seeking admission to a PG programme in a discipline other than their UG Major discipline, Merit list shall be prepared based on aggregate percentage of marks obtained from 1st to 5th semester of UG programme. Additionally, the students of this category need to qualify the University level Eligibility Test.
  • Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must pay the prescribed admission fees through the online payment system within the stipulated deadline notified by the University. Failure to complete the fee payment within the prescribed period shall result in cancellation of the admission offer.
  • If seats remain vacant after admissions from the First Merit List, subsequent merit lists (Second and Third Merit Lists) shall be published, subject to seat availability.
  • If vacancies still exist after completion of admissions through the Third Merit List, the University may conduct a Mop-Up Round. Details of such a round shall be notified separately, subject to approval by the competent authority.
  • All admission remained provisional subject to the physical verification of all relevant documents at the University.
  • Classes for the First Semester of Postgraduate (PG) Programmes are scheduled to commence on 3 August, 2026.
  • Academic Session shall be July to December for Odd Semester, and January to June for Even Semester in every academic Year.
N.B.: Applicants are advised to carefully note the admission schedule and keep it readily available for reference in order to avoid missing any event or deadline related to the admission process.

Following documents are required before filling up Application form:
  • Mark sheets of all UG semesters up to 5th semester under NEP/CBCS.
  • Admit card of Secondary examination.
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC), if any.
  • PWD/EWS certificate, if any.
  • Color photograph in white back ground (within 50 kb) in .jpg format.
  • Applicant’s signature in white back ground (within 30 kb) in .jpg format.
  • e-mail address and permanent contact number of the candidate.
  • Aadhar Number.
  • ABC ID.
Before submission of online application, following points must be ensured [Kolkata Campus]:
  • all the fields in the application form are correctly filled up.
  • The application form is filled up in conformity with detailed eligibility criteria.
  • Course to be applied is correctly selected.
  • Aggregate Marks of 1st to 5th semesters were properly calculated.
  • Photograph and the signature of the applicant are properly uploaded.
  • Signature should be legible and visible.
Seats Allotment for SCU and Non-SCU Candidates
  • The ratio for Home University students and other University students shall be 90:10 in case of State-aided Unitary Universities. However, the unfilled Home University Seats, if any, will be filled up by the outside University students and vice-versa.
  • For candidates seeking admission to the PG programme in a discipline other than their UG Honours/Major discipline (need to qualify University Level Eligibility Test) shall be considered as Non-SCU candidates.

  • Relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / PH / EWS candidates shall be applicable as per Government rules, directives, and constitutional provisions, in the minimum eligibility criteria (cut-off percentage) by 5%. (Provided the candidate should achieve the qualifying marks in their respective Honours subjects).
  • Candidate should enter the aggregate percentage of total marks obtained in 1st to 5th semesters in (3 years or 6 semesters) Honours / Major in a single Subject under NEP or CBCS.
  • Sports Quota relaxation of 5% shall be available to Sports persons who have participated at State Level and above competitions/events (Certificate issued by State/Central Government shall be required).
University-level Entrance Test
  • Candidates seeking admission to the PG programme in a discipline other than their UG Major discipline, selection shall be based on the aggregate percentage of UG marks (1st to 5th semester) following a University Level Eligibility Test. Applicants need to qualify this test.
  • Entrance Examination Pattern:
    • The University-level Eligibility Test shall carry a total of 20 marks.
    • Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks (8 out of 20) to qualify in the Test.
    • The question paper shall consist of One (1) long-answer question of 10 marks, to be attempted from a choice of three (3) questions. Two (2) shortanswer questions of 5 marks each, to be attempted from a choice of five (5) questions.
    • The total duration of the Eligibility Test shall be 60 minutes.
    • Candidates are advised to carefully read the instructions provided on the question paper and manage their time appropriately during the examination.
    • Subject wise Eligibility Test syllabus will be notified on the University Website.
    • Candidates appearing to the Test need to pay Rs.100/ as Eligibility Test fee (non-refundable).
    • Candidates need to download admit card of this test in 1st and 2nd July from the University Website.
  • The said test shall be conducted by the University.
University Fees (PG)
Online Student Admission Fee for Post Graduate admission is fixed at Rs. 6,450/- (for General/EWS category students) and Rs. 6,000/- (for SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PH / EWS category students) for the Academic Session 2025-26. Relaxation of fees for the above reserved categories will be allowed subject to submission of proper certificate issued by the competent authority. (As per Govt. rules)
