In light of the instructions received from the Governor's Secretariat Bihar, Lok Bhavan, Patna, and the decisions taken by the University Admission Committee, the following provisions have been made for the purpose of ensuring maximum enrollment against the remaining vacant seats under the Fourth Merit List for the Four-Year (CBCS) Undergraduate Program, Session 2026–2030:
1. The Samarth Admission Portal is being reopened from 18.07.2026 to 21.07.2026 so that fresh candidates may apply online. Online applications can be submitted by visiting the university website www.purneau.ac.in.
2. Candidates who had previously registered by logging into the Samarth Portal for admission but could not pay the online application fee or could not complete their online application may log in again and complete their online application
3. Candidates who had previously applied online but were not allotted a college are being given an opportunity to edit/update their Programme and College Preferences. No changes shall be accepted after the stipulated period.
4. Candidates who had previously applied online and were selected in the merit list but could not take admission due to incorrect entry of percentage, category, gender, or any other details, uploading of wrong certificates, or any other reason, shall be required to apply afresh (Fresh Apply). In case of not submitting a fresh application, such candidates will be excluded from the merit list.
5. Candidates who had previously applied online for only one subject but were not selected in the merit list and now wish to apply for another subject may log in again and apply for the additional subject within this period. No application fee shall be charged for this. However, if applying through a separate login, the application fee shall apply.
6. Candidates who had previously applied online for two subjects but were not allotted a college and now wish to apply for a third subject shall be required to submit a fresh online application (Fresh Apply).
7. The University has already released three merit lists. In the fourth merit list, the merit list will be issued after de-reserving all reserved category candidates (i.e., vacant reserved seats will be converted to unreserved seats and filled on the basis of merit).
8. After the stipulated date, the Samarth Portal will automatically close, and under no circumstances shall applications / modifications be accepted.
9. Before making any changes to the Programme (Subject) or College Preference, candidates are advised to check the subject-wise vacant seats available in colleges on the University website. Seats are vacant in Commerce subjects in most colleges. Candidates from the Science stream may opt for Botany, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry instead of Arts subjects for admission.
10. Candidates should compare their percentage of marks with the subject-wise cut-off marks of the First, Second, and Third Merit Lists to assess their chances of admission. If their marks are below the cut-off for the chosen subject, they may change their subject and/or college preference according to the college-wise and subject-wise vacant seats available on the University website. (This facility is available only to candidates covered under Point No. 3.)
11. If any discrepancy is found in the candidate's marks, category, gender, or any other information in the online application, admission will not be granted, nor will any corrections be allowed in the application.
12. Candidates are advised not to fall into the trap of agents or unauthorized persons in an attempt to secure admission. Do not make any financial transactions with anyone. The admission process of Purnea University is conducted through the Samarth Portal in accordance with the reservation rules of the Government of Bihar, admission regulations, and the instructions issued by Lok Bhavan, Patna.
13. While submitting the online application, candidates must carefully verify their marks, reservation category, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and other details before final submission.
14. All candidates are advised to regularly visit the official University website and keep an eye on newspaper notifications for the latest updates regarding the admission process.
