Spot Admission to M.Tech. Programmes (under GATE/Non-GATE Category), 2026

Institute Level Spot Admission:
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, invites online applications from interested and eligible students for spot admission to the following M.Tech. programmes for the Academic Year 2026-27.

• Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering with specialization in Communication Systems.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering with specialization in Micro Electronics and VLSI Systems.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering with Specialization in RF and Microwave Engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Intelligent Mechanical System Design.
• Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Smart Manufacturing.

• The candidates should have a B.E. / B.Tech. or equivalent degree in the discipline as mentioned in Annexure-A .
• In qualifying degree, the candidates should have passed and secured at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC, whereas 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates. The CGPA mentioned above/Percentage should be awarded by a recognized University/Institute.
• Only the primary mode of evaluation (CGPA or percentage) mentioned in the qualifying degree certificate/mark sheet shall be considered while verifying eligibility. If both CGPA and percentage are mentioned, then only CGPA will be considered.

• The selection will be based on the percentage of marks /CGPA secured in the qualifying degree and a written examination to be conducted by the institute based on the GATE syllabus.

• Interested candidates(GATE/Non-GATE) satisfying the eligibility criteria are required to submit their online application at https://admissions.iiitdm.ac.in/Mtech_Spot_Admission
  Candidates are required to provide all requisite information in the application portal. Candidates can provide preference for one or more programs subject to meeting the eligibility norms.

• The candidates are advised to read this advertisement carefully to ensure the fulfilment of eligibility norms. The instructions for filling out the online application form are given in the online portal.
• No application fee is required to apply.
• All educational qualifications must be from a Government-recognized Board/University/Institute only. In case of any ambiguity, the decision of the Institute shall be final.
• If the result of the qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted to a candidate subject to meeting the above minimum qualifying degree requirements. A certificate from the head of the current institute (As per Annexure-B ) should be submitted during document verification.
• Reservations will be made as per the norms of the government of India. Students claiming SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/EWS category shall submit the certificate as per the Government of India formats and must be issued by the competent authority. In the case of the OBCNCL/EWS category, the certificate must be issued on or after April 01, 2026. The relevant formats regarding OBC; PwD and EWS are provided as Annexures C; D and E respectively.
• The students having valid GATE score at the time of admission will be eligible for Half Time Teaching Assistance as per the norms of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
• The candidates admitted without a GATE score will not be eligible for financial assistance even though they are GATE-qualified after admission.
• Applicants are NOT required to send a hard copy of the application form or any other document(s). Entries made in the online portal will be accepted provisionally for shortlisting/selection purposes.
• The institute shall update relevant information about this admission and subsequent activities from time to time on the Institute Website. Therefore, the candidates are advised to visit the Institute website regularly for subsequent updates, if any.
• Applicants must note that they must report to the Institute for a written test on 16/07/2026, 08:30 A.M., mandatorily for spot admission. Applicants reporting after the prescribed period shall not be considered for admission. The decision of the competent authority shall be final in this regard.
• IIITDM Kancheepuram is a fully residential Institute and the students are required to stay in the hostel. Permission from the Dean (SA) must be obtained to stay outside a hostel.
• The institute reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate or cancel the whole admission process, without assigning any reason.
• In case of any ambiguity, typographical error, or mistake, the decision of the competent authority shall be final.
• All disputes related to admission shall be subjected to Chennai Jurisdiction only.
