Direct Admission Procedure and Merit Point Calculation 2026
Postgraduate Admission 2026-2027
- The students appearing 6th semester (Single Major under NEP 2020) whose average SGPA is 4.5 or higher, having cleared all semester examinations up to 5th semester but whose 6th semester result is awaited, may take direct admission to PG courses for both Arts and Science, provided they score an overall average SGPA of 4.5 or higher.
- The students who have already passed 3 years UG (Hons) under CBCS programmes, having obtained CGPA 4.5 or higher in the relevant subject (both Arts and Science subjects), may take direct admission to PG courses.
- Payment of fees for Direct Admission to PG courses should be done through the online mode only.
- As per latest Order No. 638-AEdn(U)/HED-12016(21)/5/2025-UNV SEC-Dept. of HE dated 18.05.2026 of the Govt. of West Bengal, 80% of total seats in each subject will be reserved for the students of Vidyasagar University & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University, and the remaining 20% seats are open to all (including students of Vidyasagar University & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University).
- Reservation policy will be considered as per latest Govt. Order No. BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18th May 2026. The category-wise percentage (%) of reserved seats is as follows:
- SC – 22%
- ST – 6%
- OBC – 7%
Fraction of 0.5% or more will be rounded to the next whole number.
- 3% of each category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC) will be reserved for differently-abled candidates. In case of non-availability of differently-abled candidates, the seat reserved for differently-abled candidates of the particular category will be converted to that category only.
- 1% of total seats of all PG courses are reserved under the Sports/Culture quota.
