Date of ASSAM CEE 2026: 14/06/2026 (Sunday)

The Combined Entrance Examination (CEE), 2026 for admission to B.Tech. programme in the colleges of Assam shall be conducted by the Assam Science and Technology University.
The CEE-2026 will be conducted as perthe syllabus of Assam State School Education Board, Division–II (Higher Secondary Division).

The Programme of the examination is as follows:

NOTE: Change of centre will NOT be entertained after submission of application form and payment is made.

Paper shall be of 3 (three) hours duration and shall contain 120 multiple choice questions. For every correct answer, 4 (four) marks will be awarded and 1 (one) mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. In case, the candidate has selected more than one answer, it will be considered as wrong answer. CEE-2026 will be based on Assam State School Education Board, Division –II (Higher Secondary Division). The examination will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type and comprise of a Single Paper of 3 (three) hours duration with following distribution:
a) Mathematics: 40 Questions
b) Physics: 40 Questions
c) Chemistry: 40 Questions
Steps and precautions to be taken while filling up of application form for CEE-2026:
- A computer with good Internet connectivity.
- Size of the electronic photograph in JPG/JPEG format must be in the range of 25 to 35 kilobytes, height of the photograph must be between 250 pixels to 350 pixels and width of the photograph must be between 150 pixels to 220 pixels and the photograph must be recent (within two months from the date of application) one. The same should be uploaded in the space indicated in the online application form.
- Size of the scanned electronic signature (current one) in JPG/JPEG Format must be in the range of 15 to 30 kilobytes, height of the signature must be between 100 pixels to 180 pixels and width of the signature must be between 150 pixels to 220 pixels. The same should be uploaded in the space indicated in the online application form.
- A valid e-mail id as all communication will be made on this e-mail id, if necessary.
- A valid mobile number as information via SMS will be sent to the number, if necessary.
- A valid debit/credit card or Net banking account.
- Acknowledge of the “Confirmation page(s) should be preserved by the applicant for possible further use/reference.
- Download Information Brochure. Read it carefully to ensure your eligibility and acquaint with the requirements for submission of Online Application Form.
- No correction can be made at a later stage after submission of an application. No change will be accepted through Post/Fax/ email / By Hand etc. No change in the category will be entertained after the last date for submission of CEE-2026 application form and no subsequent changes will be effective after declaration of CEE-2026 Results.
Candidates can download their score/rank cards only from the website https://www.astu.ac.in. Score/rank card will not be dispatched to the candidates.
Assam Science and Technology University will not conduct counselling of the CEE2026. ASTU is authorized only to conduct the examination. However, candidates are advised to collect information regarding total number of seats available in the institutions or the eligibility and reservation criteria etc. from the State Council for Technical Education Assam, Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Assam, Kahilipara, if required.
Counselling will be conducted by the State Council for Technical Education Assam, Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Assam.
Candidates are advised to only visit the ASTU website: https://www.astu.ac.in regularly for latest information regarding CEE-2026 (examination). ASTU is not responsible for any information related to CEE-2026 (examination), provided in any other website or social media platforms.
Candidates should note that OMR Answer Sheet shall have to be used for indicating the answers. The evaluation of the OMR sheets shall be done with the help of computer. No manual evaluation of OMR sheets shall be done. A sample of the OMR sheet to be used is given in Annexure-A. The sample of the OMR sheet will be uploaded in the website before examination. Candidates should familiarize themselves with the use of OMR answer sheet. While appearing in the Examination, candidates should follow the instructions given in the Question Booklet, OMR sheet and carefully fill up the relevant particulars like Roll No, Question Booklet Set (A/B/C/D) etc.
Use only BLACK BALL PEN while filling up the OMR sheet.
Since OMR sheets will be used and the evaluation shall be done by computer, there shall be no provision for manual re-checking and re-evaluation.
Medium of Entrance Test: The question paper contains questions both in "English" and "Assamese" language.

Eligibility for Admission

To be eligible for admission to any of the colleges a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:

The applicant must be an Indian Citizen.
The applicant must be a Permanent resident of Assam [with a valid PRC of Assam issued by the competent authority].
Applicants who wish to be considered for the Central Government Employee Quota must submit proof of their permanent residency from the concerned state authorities outside of Assam [For details, please refer Counselling Guidelines-2026, (visit official website https://dte.assam.gov.in for regular updates) to be issued by the State Council for Technical Education Assam, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Guwahati, Assam].
Candidate must pass the Qualifying Examination (Higher Secondary School Completion (HSC) Examination (10+2 or equivalent) in single sitting, without any grace marks in the subjects Mandatory of the relevant subjects/courses at HSC level and also must be passed individually both in Theory & Practical (Annexure-B).
Note: it is the responsibility of candidate to ensure the equivalence for his claim of HSC at the time of counselling, his/her candidature may not be considered in the absence of official certification by Assam governments higher education department about the equivalence at time of counselling.
Candidate must secure a minimum of 45% (40% in case of candidates belongs to reserved category in the subjects taken together) in the Qualifying Examination (referred to in clause iv above) as per AICTE Approval Process Hand Book 2024-2027.
OR
Candidates who have passed 3-years Diploma in Engineering & Technology under the State Council for Technical Education, Assam, with 45% (40% for reserved category) marks in the Final Diploma Examination. [All other eligibility criteria will be same as per guideline]
OR
Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed HSC (i.e., 10+2 or equivalent) examination with Mathematics as a subject.

Note:
- Reserved category includes OBC / MOBC / SC / ST(P) / ST(H).
- Under OBC/MOBC, candidate must submit valid Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued by the competent authority of Assam.
- In case of Person with disabilities required percentage is as per his/her original category.
- The minimum age of a candidate must be 17 years as on 31st December 2026 to be eligible to appear in CEE-2026. There is no upper age limit.
- The Candidate must possess a good moral character. (Certificate from the head of Institute last attended to be submitted).
- The Candidates must be physically and mentally fit. (Medical Certificate from the Medical Officer / Medical Practitioner to be submitted.)
  
  Note I: Depending upon the subjects they have studied in the 10+2 standard; they will get the branches for choice filling. Branch wise applicable list of subjects is mentioned in Annexure-I.
  
  Note II: For admission under Central Government Employees (CGE) Quota:
  Son/Daughter of employees of Central Government and of Central Government Public Sector undertaking (CGE) who are posted in Assam for less than 20 (twenty) years and not Permeant Residents of Assam are eligible to apply under CGE quota.
  
  The above criteria of twenty years must be valid at the time and date of admission in the concerned college.
- 5% seats in B.Tech. / B.E. courses in the government engineering colleges of Assam are reserved for those students who studied from class –VII to X in government school under SEBA and class XI and XII in state government school/college/provincialized colleges under AHSEC (Currently SEBA and AHSEC are merged as Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). For the students belonging to any of the following categories viz: ST, SC, OBC/MOBC(NCL), EWS or General Category (Govt. letter No. eFile No. 418252/1, dated 12-12-2023).
  
  Certificates from the concerned Principal/Head Master of the state government schools/colleges along with the counter signature of the concerned inspector of schools, certifying that the candidate fulfills the criteria under the clause only shall be eligible to claim seats for this quota.

Admission Process

Counselling Guidelines-2026 will be notified by the State Council for Technical Education Assam, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Guwahati. Candidates are requested to visit DTE Website (https://dte.assam.gov.in) for the latest updates.

Fees

An Application Fee of Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) is to be paid online, which facilitate payment through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking. The students are requested to pay only in the link provided in the Application Portal of Assam Science and Technology website only. Assam Science and Technology University shall not accept hard copy of the Application Form and any other documents. Fee once paid, is not refundable.
