CNLU, Patna the premier institution of legal education and as per the NIRF ranking the highest ranked State University in Bihar hereby invites online applications for its 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) for the Academic Year 2026-27 from April 13, 2026 to May 11, 2026 for which the Entrance Test will be held on May 17, 2026 at Patna Centre.

*Objection(s) received over email, support tickets on the website or phone calls will not be entertained. A fee of Rs. 500/- (Five Hundred) will have to be paid for each objection raised. If the objection is found to be valid and is sustained, the said fee will be refunded/remitted to the same account from which it was paid within 10 working days. No requests for deposit of the amount in any other account will be entertained.
Duration of the Course and Semester System
  • The duration of the course is Three Academic Years.
  • Each Academic Year consists of Two Semesters and each semester shall consist of a minimum of ninety (90) working days.
  • The Academic Semesters are ordinarily from July-December and January-June, with winter break and summer vacations.

Admission Eligibility
  • Candidate for admission to 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) course should have passed an Undergraduate Degree in any discipline/ any other equivalent degree with the following Marks or Equivalent Grade:
    • Forty Five percent (45%) marks in the aggregate of the maximum marks prescribed in the case of candidates belonging to General/EWS categories.
    • Forty Two percent (42%) in case of candidates belonging to BC/EBC/PWD categories.
    • Forty percent (40%) in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  • The candidate must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying degree on the date of the entrance test. Proof of completion of the qualifying degree has to be submitted no later than December 31, 2026.
The reservation will be provided as per the Bihar (in admission in educational institutions) Reservation) Act, 2003 (No. 16 of 2003) with amendments:

Note: 5% Horizontal reservation shall be applicable for PWD.


*The candidates outside of the State of Bihar are ineligible to claim the benefits of reservation under EWS as per the Bihar Reservation in vacancies in posts and in services and in Admission in the Educational Institutions (For Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019.

If a candidate from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) is not available, to the extent of the reservation percentage, the vacant seats under this category shall be filled up by the candidates of Unreserved (General) Category only.

** The candidates outside of the State of Bihar are ineligible to claim the benefits of reservation under these categories. The relevant certificate should be issued by the competent authority of Bihar Government for (1) Extremely Backward Classes (Annexure-I), (2) Backward Classes (AnnexureII), (3) Scheduled Caste (SC) and (4) Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Candidates of Bihar seeking admission under Other Backward Classes (OBC) category for Chanakya National Law University, Patna shall mention in the application form itself whether they belong to BC or EBC categories of Bihar. Failure to mention the specific category BC/EBC will not entitle them for Reservation benefits as there is no such category as Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Bihar Reservation Act, 2003.

***About of Backward Classes (WBC):
All women candidates of Reserved Categories (Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes & Backward Classes) of Bihar who will be applicants of CNLU-ET, 2026 are hereby requested to fill up their application forms in their own categories. At the time of admission after filling up all above-mentioned reserved categories seats as per their percentage, reserved seats (02) for WBC (Women of Backward Classes) will be made available to reserved categories women as per their CNLU-ET, 2026 rank among reserved categories of women of Backward Classes.

General Instructions
  • The CNLU-ET, 2026 shall be in OFFLINE (Pen-and-Paper) mode.
  • The applications have to be submitted in ONLINE mode only through the University website, i.e., www.cnlu.ac.in.
  • The CNLU-ET, 2026 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 17th May, 2026 from 03:00 P.M. to 05:00 P.M. (Subject to revision in case of necessity), the PWD/SAP candidates are eligible for an additional time of 40 minutes i.e. from 03:00 P.M. to 05:40 P.M.
  • Information regarding the details of intake, reservation policy and the course offered along with the fee structure are available in the Information Brochure uploaded on the University website, i.e., www.cnlu.ac.in.
  • The candidates are, therefore, advised to go through the rules & regulations and the fee structure of the 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) course before filling in the application form.
  • Candidates are advised to visit CNLU website regularly for updates. The allotment of seats and the offer for admission under CNLU-ET, 2026, shall be provisional.
  • If more than one candidate secure equal marks in the CNLU-ET, 2026, the break of tie shall be done by the following procedure and order:
    i. Higher marks in the component/section on General and Critical Reasoning in the CNLU-ET, 2026 exam;
    ii. Higher in age;
    iii. Computerised draw of lots.
  • The online enrolment for CNLU-ET 2026 will open on 13th April, 2026 and close on 11th May, 2026.
  • The application form, complete in all respects and after payment of requisite fee, must be finally submitted on or before 11th May, 2026 (11:59 P.M.). The candidates shall fill and submit the application form well on time to avoid last minute hassles. The University shall in no case be responsible for any incomplete information or misinformation or inconvenience faced by the candidate in this regard.
How to fill in Online Application
  • The candidates are first required to register themselves at the CNLU-ET 2026 portal by using personal mobile number and e-mail Id. Upon registration, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for validation. Once the mobile number is validated, candidates can login using the registered mobile number and the password provided at the time of registration.
  • Please fill the application form carefully. The Name of the candidate and the parents shall be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/Mark sheets/Identity proof.
  • Please note that once the application is submitted and requisite fee is paid, the candidate cannot change the category.
  • Updates or corrections to application form will be not be entertained after final submission.
  • The candidates are required to read the instructions carefully and furnish correct and authentic information. In case the information furnished at any stage of the application, examination and admission process is found to be false or incorrect or if there is any discrepancy or mismatch between the information furnished by the candidate at the relevant section and the certificates/documents produced at the time of admission, the provisional admission offered to the candidate shall stand cancelled with immediate effect without assigning any further reason.
  • The Test Centre will be at Patna only.
  • In order to claim the benefit of reservation (EWS/BC/EBC/SC/ST), the relevant certificates issued by the competent authority of the Govt. of Bihar only must be uploaded; and the original certificate will be verified by the University at the time of admission.
  • In order to claim the benefit of reservation under PWD/SAP category, the relevant certificate issued by the competent authority must be uploaded; and the original certificate will be verified by the University at the time of admission.
  • If a candidate has filled-in more than one online application form, the candidate's last online application form shall be considered. In such case, the application fee for the previous application form shall not be refunded.
  • The result of the qualifying examination shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they may have applied for.
  • This course is a day-scholar programme; therefore, hostel facilities will not be available.

  • The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges, if any, for remitting the fee online. The actual bank transaction charges will be displayed in the payment gateway page after choosing the mode of payment.
  • Application Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable.
