    • Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech. Marine Engineering Programme must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping(Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.

    Programme Eligibility
    B.Tech. Civil Engineering (Part Time)
    • A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering/Technology conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala or other states or any other equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years duration with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent. In the case of candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/OEC categories, the relaxation in minimum marks required shall be as per the norms followed by the University for other B Tech programmes. Candidates can seek admission only to the branch of Engineering/Technology in which they possess diploma.
    • Candidates should be on permanent technical / professional employment for at least two years at the time of application after passing the Diploma Examination in any of the following type of establishments:
      • Government Organizations.
      • Quasi - Government Organizations.
      • Industrial firm duly registered under Society’s Act.
      • Public or Private limited companies registered under Companies Act.
      • Government/ Quasi-Government/Private-aided/Private-unaided Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges in the State.
    • In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with the minimum required technical / professional experience of two years, candidates with lesser experience will also be considered.
    B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering (Part Time)
    • A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering/Technology conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala or other states or any other equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years duration with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent. Polymer Chemistry/ M.Sc Chemistry with Polymer Chemistry as specialization / M.Sc Biopolymer Science/ M.Sc in Chemical science with Polymer science / Technology with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade from any recognized University or Institution.

      • In the absence of applications with GATE, others can also be considered on basis of the performance in Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

      b) The Candidates who have passed Sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible.
      c) A valid GATE Score.
      d) In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.
    • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribes (KST) are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qalifying examination.
    • SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
    M.Tech. in Industrial Safety
    • B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc. Engg. Degree awarded by AICTE/UGC approved Universities and Institutes/ Institutes of National Importance like IITs, NITs and IIEST in any branch of Engineering with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade .
    • A valid GATE score.
    • In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered based on their performance in the Departmental Admission Test (DAT).
    • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribes (KST) are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qalifying examination.
    • SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
    M.Tech. programme in Structural Engineering
    • a) i) Shall have passed B Tech/B.E/B.Sc. Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.
      ii) The Candidates who have passed Sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible.

      c) In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    M.Tech. in Information Technology (Business Analytics and Intelligence)

Engineering Degrees / AMIE in any discipline with minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade from any recognised university or institution / MCA / M.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology/ Electronics, from any Universities in Kerala or an examination of any other University / Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade.

    • In the absence of the sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing an admission test conducted by the University.

    • The candidates shall have passed B.Tech / BE/ AMIE / AMIETE Degrees in Electronics & Communication/Electrical and Electronics / Electronics and Instrumentation / Applied Electronics and Instrumentation branch or M.Sc in Physics/ Photonics / Electronics from any University in Kerala or an Examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA Grade ona scale of 10. Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates and in the absence of adequate number of GATE qualified candidates, selection will be based on Departmental Admission Test conducted jointly by the involved departments in CUSAT.

Application and Admission Procedure
  • The Prospectus for admission to professional and non-professional programmes offered by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi - 22 for the academic year 2026-27, as per the notification approved by the University is published herewith. This prospectus provides the vital information regarding the Common Admission Test (CAT) - 2026 and allied admission procedures for the year 2026. Candidates are required to read this prospectus carefully so as to make them fully aware of the rules/procedures related to Application / Test / Option Registration / Allotment and all other matters pertaining to Academic Admission 2026. Candidates are also required to visit the University admissions website admissions.cusat.ac.in regularly so as to update themselves with latest notifications, notices, announcements, instructions etc. published in the admission website. In addition to this, registered candidates must login to their profile page on a daily basis and comply with directions given therein without fail.
  • This version of the prospectus in English language only shall be considered as authentic in the case of any dispute.
  • This prospectus sets out the rules and regulations for CAT 2026 and all other procedures related to Admissions 2026.
  • This prospectus pertains to admissions to the academic programmes conducted at the following three campuses of the University:
    - Main Campus situated at Thrikkakara, Kalamassery, Kochi-22 (Referred to as Campus 1)
    - Kuttanadu Campus (CUCEK) situated at Pulinkunnu, Alappuzha District (80 KM away from Campus 1) (Referred to as Campus 2)
    - Lakeside Campus situated on the banks of Cochin Estuary and adjacent to Fine Arts Hall, Kochi - 16 (12 KM away from Campus 1) (Referred to as Lakeside Campus)
  • In addition to the programmes conducted at the campuses listed under clause 4, this prospectus also includes PhD programmes offered in the approved Departments / Schools / Centres of the University and at various research institutions recognized by CUSAT across Kerala.
  • This Prospectus is subject to modification / addition / deletion, as may be deemed necessary by Cochin University of Science and Technology from time to time.
Application Fees for various categories of Seats/Application
  • Application fee to appear for a maximum of two test codes is Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only) and for Kerala SC (KSC) / Kerala ST (KST) candidates to appear for a maximum of two test codes is Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only) (regarding ‘Test Codes’ please refer Chapter 11). For each additional test code Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for general candidates and Rs. 250/- for KSC/KST candidates is to be paid. Candidates applying for multiple M.Tech. and MBA programmes need to pay the application fees as given above and need not pay any additional tests fees, as there is no CAT for these programmes. CAT registration fee is to be paid by the candidates who register for CUET reserved seats (For PG programmes only). Please see clause 14.1.1.
  • For seats reserved for International Candidates/PIO:
    US $ 110 (One Hundred and Ten US Dollars only) (Rs. 9,100/- for ICCR scholars).
  • For candidates belonging to Children of Indian Gulf Workers (CGW) category:
    Application fee to appear for a maximum of two test codes is Rs. 6500/- (Rupees Six Thousand Five Hundred only).
    In the case of CGW candidates belonging to KSC/KST to appear for a maximum of two test codes application fee will be Rs. 5,700/- (Rupees Five Thousand Seven Hundred Only).
    For each additional test code Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for general candidates and Rs. 250/- for KSC/KST candidates.
  • NRI Seats: Any Indian Citizen/OCI card holder is eligible to apply for NRI seats.
    NRI status is not compulsory to apply for seats under this category but the candidates should submit a ‘Declaration’ in the format given in the Annexure I at the time of their admission. Candidates opting for NRI Seats have to pay additional |5,000 (Rupees Five Thousand only) to the fees specified under clause 1 and therefore, the application fee to appear for a maximum of two test codes is Rs. 6,500/- (Rupees Six Thousand Five Hundred only). In the case of NRI candidates belonging to KSC/KST to appear for a maximum of two test codes application fee will be Rs. 5,700/- (Rupees Five Thousand Seven Hundred Only). For each additional test code Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for general candidates and Rs. 250/- for KSC/KST candidates.In addition to this, they have to opt for the NRI seats as one of their choice at the time of selecting the preference of programmes/seats (Also see clause 20.5). Check the NRI seat availability for the programme you wish to apply for before opting for NRI seats.
  • For Ph.D. Programmes: Application fee will be Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) for all category of applicants except Kerala SC (KSC) / Kerala ST (KST) and Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven hundred only) for Kerala SC/ST Candidates is to be remitted to the respective Departments/Schools where the candidate intends to apply for PhD Programme to obtain the Application Forms as per the instructions received from the department.
  • For Postdoctoral Fellowships, Diploma and Certificate Programmes:
    Application fee will be Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred Only) and Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven hundred only) for Kerala SC/ST Candidates is to be remitted to the respective Departments/Schools where the candidate intends to apply for the Programme to obtain the Application Forms as per the instructions received from the department.
  • OCI Candidates: Based on the judgement in WP (c) No.891 of 2021 dated 03.02.2023 by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, OCI candidates who secure OCI status before 04/03/2021 are eligible to be treated at par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation. Applicant who have secured OCI status after 04/03/2021, are only eligible for admission to NRI seats and seats reserved for OCI & PIO.
  • Application fee once remitted is not refundable under any circumstances.
  • The applicants for seats reserved for International candidates FN/PIO/OCI are required to submit their application online through the web site https://admissions.cusat.ac.in and after successful submission of their application they shall forward a copy of the confirmation page to The Director, Office of International Relations, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi– 682022, Kerala, India along with Demand Draft / Pay Order / any other instrument (which does not involve any collection charges on the part of University) for US $ 110 (One Hundred and ten US Dollars only) in favour of The Registrar, CUSAT, payable at Ernakulam. In the case of foreign citizens, the confirmation page along with copies of the required certificates shall be routed either through the Embassy of India in their respective country or through their respective Embassy in India.
  • Candidates applying for various programmes must make sure that they fulfill minimum eligibility criteria prescribed under relevant Chapters of this Prospectus before filling up online application. The candidate alone shall be responsible for uploading correct information in the online application.
How to Apply Online?

Online Registration for Academic Admission 2026-27 is a multi-step process. Before starting online registration read CAT-2026 prospectus carefully.
  • STEP 1 – Registration
    Click “Apply Here”button under CAT 2026 Registration Tab and submit details. All fields are mandatory.Submit the OTP received in the mobile number for mobile number verification. An activation link will be sent to the email address provided by the candidate. The activation link will expire within 48 hours or on the application registration closing date, whichever occurs first. Email account and mobile number once used/activated cannot be used again. On clicking the activation link (obtained in the email inbox), the user account will be activated. The user name will be candidate’s email address. Please note that the password must have at least 8 Characters and contain upper case, lower case, number and one special character. Name is not accepted as password, consecutive numbers are not allowed. For example Cat@2026. Make sure that the mobile number and the e-mail id used for the registration is active throughout the admission process. The applicant should check sms and e-mail inbox daily for communications from the university till the completion of the university admission process. If these are forgotten or lost, the university will not be responsible for locating them if applicants approach the university. Such enquiries will not be entertained. Therefore, the sole responsibility in this regard rests with the applicant.
  • STEP 2 - Login with your user id and password.
  • STEP 3 - Personal Details and Reservation
    Read instructions carefully. Then click start Registration button. Fill all personal details required in the form. In case of any doubt, please read the relevent part of prospectus again.
    For the Keralite status related information, refer clause 20.1 of the prospectus. For details regarding NRI Reservation refer clause 20.5 of the prospectus.
    For information regarding Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries (CGW) refer clause 20.6 of the prospectus.
    Please note that special reservation may not be available to all programmes. Details of special reservations available for individual programmes are specified in the respective chapters of the prospectus.
  • STEP 4 – Photo and Signature
    Upload a recent passport size photograph (taken within 6 months) with a clear view of your face. The photograph should be of size 150–500KB, .jpg/.jpeg, white background, portrait orientation, Image resolution must be between 800×1000 and 1200×1500 pixels.
    Upload a scanned image of your signature of size 20–100KB, .jpg/.jpeg, white background, landscape orientation, Image resolution must be between 400×130 and 800×250 pixels.
  • STEP 5 – Programme Selection
    Utmost care is to be taken while selecting the programmes.
    • Select the programme or combination of programmes from the dropdown list. For example, if the candidate wish to apply for undergraduate programmes like B.Tech. / Integrated M.Sc. / Integrated M.A. / Integrated MCA / BBA LL.B (H) / B.Com. LL.B (H) / 5 year B.Sc. LL.B. (H) (Computer Science) / B.Voc(H). Programmes, they need to select Undergraduate / Integrated Programmes. For those candidates who wish to apply for Postgraduate programmes and M.B.A., selection of programme should be done accordingly.
    • Next, select the qualification which you are going to acquire or already acquired. On the basis of the qualification selected by you, list of programmes available in University will be listed.
    • After confirming programmes, details of Test codes (for all programmes except MBA & M.Tech.) will be displayed. A candidate needs to take test on one of the test codes shown corresponding to the selected programme. The details of each test code are provided in chapter 11. There may be multiple test codes available for a programme, candidate need to select appropriate one from the options displayed, based on the candidate’s qualification. Then click “Save & Continue” Button.
    Before proceeding to the next page, applicants should ensure that they have selected all the programmes they wish to apply for.
    M.B.A. applicants should enter:
    1) For IIM - CAT: Overall Percentile
    2) CMAT of AICTE: Total NTA Score obtained.
    3) KMAT of Kerala: Percentile obtained.

    Note: If the results of the above three tests are not declared while submitting the application, candidates will be given chance to enter the score details through the candidate profile before the closure of application submission for the M.B.A program at SMS. For the admission to MBA (Executive) programme at SMS, candidates without a valid score in the above three tests shall opt for the Department Admission Test conducted by SMS.

    M.Tech. applicants may have multiple valid GATE scores. Such candidate should enter their best score in the column provided.

    For M.Tech. admission preference will be given to candidates with valid GATE score.

    M.Tech. (Non GATE) candidates should attend a Departmental Admission Test (DAT), which will be conducted by the respective departments if sufficient number of GATE qualified candidates are not available.
  • STEP 6 – Short Preview
    After submitting programme details, a short preview will be available. Candidate should check the short preview carefully. In case any change is needed, go to the required page, make corrections and save changes.

    Please note that after confirming the short preview, you will not be allowed to go back to the previous menu.

    After the successful final submission of the application forms, permission may be given to the applicants to edit the personal and programme details entered in the application form only once before the last date of application through the candidate profile.
  • STEP 7 – Payment
    After confirming the preview online payment of application fee is to be made. Payment can be made through all Credit / Debit Cards/UPI or Net banking of almost all Banks. The applicants are directed to check whether the payment made is successful or not. Candidates need to retry payment only if the payment failed status is shown.
  • STEP 8 – Centre Selection
    After successful completion of payment, the list of available centres will be displayed. Candidate should select one of the test centres available. Please note that the centre availability is only indicative and is subject to change during the actual centre selection stage. In the case of M.B.A. and M.Tech. applicants, there will not be any separate Common Admission Test by CUSAT. The application process for MBA / M.Tech. programmes will be completed only on successful payment of application fees (no centre selection required).

    After Centre Selection a final preview will be displayed. Candidates should verify the application details in in the final preview and proceed for final application submission. On completing the final application submission, candidates will receive an email confirming successful application submission. The details will be verified and confirmed by the University. This may take a few days to process. To check the status of application, the candidates should login to their candidate profile. If the application status is not updated to “Approved” within ten days, candidates are advised to contact the Help Desk. After the approval, the candidate can view and download the confirmation page from the candidate profile. Important communications to the candidates regarding CAT 2026 will be provided through the candidate profile.

    After final submission of application, if a candidate wishes to apply for MBA or M.Tech. programmes after the last date for application for other UG/ PG programmes, they can do so through the link available in the candidate profile.

    Candidates can take a print out of the confirmation page and keep it for future references.
    Please note, no documents are to be sent to the University unless directed by the University.
Minimum basic requirements and eligibility to apply for each programme
  • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination, unless specified otherwise.
  • SEBC candidates of Kerala State who are certified as belonging to non-creamy layer are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for qualifying examination unless specified otherwise, provided that the candidates have passed the qualifying examination.
  • For admission to M.Tech. programmes Candidates with a valid GATE score in the specified subject are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for qualifying examination unless specified otherwise, provided that the candidates have passed the qualifying examination.
  • Programmes offered in the academic year 2026 with eligibility criteria and compulsory Test/Scores are detailed in this prospectus.
  • Undergraduate Programmes: All undergraduate programmes are designed for students who have completed their 12th Grade (Plus Two) with required eligibility conditions. Diploma holders with prescribed eligibility conditions can apply for B.Tech. Lateral Entry programmes.
  • For Undergraduate Programmes: Five marks relaxation is granted to the cutoff marks in Higher Secondary examination marks for admission to UG programmes of the University to those who have participated in Scouts, Guides, Rover, Ranger and earned “Rajyapuraskkar”, Nanmudra Certificate” during Higher Secondary level.
  • The eligibility criteria for admission to various programmes, in case of differently abled candidates is at par with that of SC/ST candidates, for each programme including the cut off marks/score, age etc.
