FTII is offering admissions in Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Cinema and One-Year Post Graduate Certificate Courses in TV in different specializations for the upcoming academic session only for Indian Nationals through FTII-Entrance Test 2025-26 (FTII-ET-2025-26) as detailed below.

FILM WING
The Film Wing of FTII offers a Master of Fine Arts in Cinema (MFACinema) with following specializations:

Registration for Admission for Master Degree and Post Graduate Certificate Courses through FTII-ET-2025-26
  • FTII is offering admission to eleven (11) courses divided into two groups i.e. Group A and Group B as mentioned in the table below.
  • A candidate can apply to a maximum of two courses from the disciplines mentioned at Sr. no. 1 to 4 in the table below of Film wing and Television wing together (the details of courses in which a candidate can apply is mentioned subsequently).
  • A candidate can apply for only one course mentioned at sr. no. 5 and 6 in the table below.

Stages of Selection Process for Admission to Various Specializations in the Film and Television Wing
FTII-ET 2025-26 will be conducted in two stages. The selection process for MFA in Cinema with specialization in Screen Acting is different than rest of the programs.
Stage-1: Written Test with two papers (Paper-I Objective and Paper II Subjective)
Stage-2: Mixed Format Assessment-Practical, Analytical, Performance & Interaction


Stage-1:
Candidates seeking admission to MFA in Cinema Programs and One year Post Graduate Certificate Courses must appear for Written Test (Both PaperI & II) of FTII-ET 2025-26.

Stage-2:
Candidates qualifying in Stage-1 (Written Test) must appear for further Stage-2 of the examination.

Final Merit List
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of cumulative performance in Stage-1 and Stage-2 with 25% and 75% weightage respectively,subject to fulfillment of terms and conditions mentioned in the prospectus.

Stage-1: Written Test
Mode of Stage-1:
- Paper-I: Objective Type question paper
- Paper-II: Subjective Type question paper

Question Paper Pattern:

  • 30 questions with a total of 60 marks.
  • Each MCQ question will carry 02 marks.
  • Each question to have four options and only one of them will be the correct option.
  • Only one option is to be chosen/selected.
  • Correct answer will be awarded +02 marks.
  • Unattempt questions will be awarded zero marks.
  • Wrong answers and/or choosing/selecting more than one option will be awarded (-) 0.5 marks.
  • Paper-I will consist of questions covering allied arts, literature, general knowledge & awareness relevant to the course requirements and questions specifically related to the chosen area of specialization
Paper-II Subjective Type Questions Descriptive questions carrying 40 marks will assess the subject knowledge of the discipline
Procedure for Stage-1:
  • Written test will take place at multiple centers all over India.
  • Candidate must attempt both papers to be considered for admission process.
  • Total Time allotted for the Written Test: 2 hrs 30 min.
  • Weightage of Stage-1 in the overall selection process will be 25% of the total Marks (Stage 1 plus Stage 2).
  • Paper-I will be evaluated for all candidates and the Roll nos. of candidates who qualify Paper-I will be published. Only candidates who qualify PaperI will be eligible for the evaluation of Paper-II.
  • Qualification Criteria for Paper-II evaluation: A maximum of 32 x ‘A’ no. of candidates will be qualified for evaluation of Paper-II subject to nonzero positive score in Paper-I (where ‘A’ is the total number of seats in a program. The ratio of 1:32 will be followed for all seats as per the category of the seat in a program). Paper-II will be evaluated for all these candidates.
  • Qualification Criteria for Stage-2: Candidates will be qualified for Stage-2 based on the total marks of Written Test of both papers of Stage1 in the ratio of 1:4 (4x ‘A’) (where ‘A’ is the total number of seats in a program). The ratio of 1:4 will be followed for all seats as per the category of the seat in a program). Roll Nos. of candidates qualified for Stage-2 will be published on the website.
Stage-2: Mixed Format Assessment: Practical, Analytical, Performance & Interaction
Mode of Stage-2:
  • This stage will comprehensively evaluate candidates’ overall suitability for the program using diverse methods.
  • Stage-2 will be conducted at FTII Pune campus.
  • Candidates will make their own arrangements for travel, accommodation and meals for the duration of Stage-2 assessment.
  • Weightage of Stage-2 in the overall selection process will be 75% of the Total Marks (Stage 1 plus Stage 2).
Stage-1: Written Test (MCQ based written Test)
Candidates seeking wish to take admission in MFA in Cinema with specialization in Screen Acting must appear for Written Test of FTII-ET 2025-26.

Stage-2: Audition, Performance and Interaction
Candidates qualifying in Stage-1 (Written Test) must appear for further Stage-2 of examination.

Final Merit List

  • Section-I: Will consists of questions covering Allied Arts, Literature, History, Current Affair, General Knowledge and Awareness.
  • Section-II: Will consists of questions specific to Acting.
Procedure for Stage-1:
  • Total Time allotted for written test examination: 1 hr 30 min.
  • Written Test paper will be evaluated for all candidates and roll nos. of qualified candidates of written test will be published on the website.
  • Qualification Criteria (Cut-off) for Stage-2: A maximum of 10 x 'A' (where 'A' is the total number of seats in a program) no. of candidates will be qualified for all seats as per the category of the seat in a program for Stage-2 subject to non-zero positive score in written test (Stage-1). Qualified candidates of Stage-1 will appear for the Stage-2 process.
  • Result of Written Test: Roll numbers of candidates qualified in Written Test and eligible for Stage-2 i.e. Audition, Performance and Interaction) will be published.
  • Total marks of Stage-1 is: 100 Marks.
  • Weightage of Written Test: 25% of the total marks (Stage-1 plus Stage-2).
Stage-2: Audition, Performance and Interaction
Mode of Stage-2:
  • Stage-2 is based on Audition, Performance and Interaction.
  • Stage-2 will be conducted at the FTII Pune campus.
Procedure of Stage-2:
  • This stage will comprehensively evaluate candidates’ overall suitability for the MFA in Cinema with specialization in Screen Acting Program.
  • Stage-2 will be conducted at FTII Pune campus.
  • Stage-2 may be conducted in sequential phases, depending on the number of shortlisted candidates.
  • Stage-2 Total marks: 100
  • Weightage of Stage-2: 75% of the total Marks (Stage 1 plus Stage 2)
  • Components of Stage-2 evaluation process are as follows:
    Component 1: Integrated Audition - 50 Marks
    - Impromptu, on-the-spot performance activities or exercises to assess spontaneity, imagination, adaptability, and performance instincts
    - Prepared monologue (up to 3 minutes, in Hindi or English)

    Component 2: Personal Interaction (Interview) - 50 Marks - Assessment will include:
    - Motivation and intent
    - General and cinematic awareness
    - Readiness for intensive academic and artistic training
