Registration for and booking of LNAT tests for entry into university in September 2027 opens on 1 August, 2026. Testing starts on 1 September, 2026.

The LNAT test can be taken on any day that there is an appointment slot free at the test centre you have chosen. The earlier you book, the more chance you have of getting an appointment on the day of your choice.

You can take the LNAT before or after you send off your UCAS application.

We will attempt to keep this page up to date and accurate, but it is your responsibility to check with your chosen universities for any changes.

2026: LNAT Registration
DO NOT sit the LNAT before the 2026 summer holiday as your result WILL NOT COUNT for 2026/2027.

• 1 August, 2026: UCAS registration will open. LNAT registration begins.
• 1 September, 2026: LNAT testing begins.
• Mid September 2026: UCAS applications can be submitted.

2026: Deadlines for Cambridge and Oxford applicants:
You must meet these deadlines in order to guarantee that your application to Cambridge or Oxford will be considered.

• 1 August, 2026 - 15 September, 2026: Register and book your LNAT test slot (in order to sit the test before or on, 15 October, 2026).
• 15 October, 2026: Submit your UCAS form
• 15 October, 2026: Sit the LNAT before, or at the latest on, 15 October, 2026.
• Foundation Year in Law at the University of Oxford – Sit the LNAT before, or at the latest on 13 January, 2027.

2027 Deadlines for King’s College London (KCL) – London School of Economics (LSE) – and University College London (UCL) applicants:
You must meet these deadlines in order to guarantee that your application will be considered.

• 31 December, 2026: Sit the LNAT before or on 31 December, 2026.

2026/27: Deadlines for all other LNAT universities except the University of Bristol and the University of Durham:
You must meet these deadlines in order to guarantee that your application will be considered.

• 20 January, 2027: Register and book your LNAT test slot before this date.
• 13 January, 2027: Submit your UCAS form by 06:00 P.M. UK time.
• 25 January, 2027: Sit the LNAT before or on 25 January, 2027.

2026/27: Deadlines for the University of Bristol and the University of Durham:
You must meet these deadlines in order to guarantee that your application will be considered.

• 13 January, 2027: Register and book your LNAT test slot before this date.
• 13 January, 2027: Submit your UCAS form by 06:00 P.M. UK time.
• 13 January, 2027: Sit the LNAT before or on 13 January, 2027.

2027: Late applications
Late application deadlines usually apply to international applicants only – it is your responsibility to check with your chosen universities. Your chosen universities may not accept LNAT results taken as late as July.

• 25 July, 2027: Book your LNAT test slot before or on 25 July, 2027.
• 30 June, 2027: Submit UCAS form between 16 January and 30 June, 2027.
• 31 July, 2027: Sit the LNAT before or on 31 July, 2027.

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

Applicants to Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) can take the LNAT between 1 September, 2026 and 15 March, 2027 for the University’s July 2027 intake.

Notes:

• Applicants not applying to Cambridge or Oxford are strongly advised to meet the January deadlines if possible. Under UCAS rules universities are permitted but not required to consider late applications. If you are thinking of making a late application please check with the universities concerned to make sure they are still considering applications. More detail on the UCAS website .
• You will need to enter your UCAS Personal Identifier number on your LNAT profile before you submit your UCAS application. You do not need to complete your UCAS application form when you register your LNAT profile.
• Don’t forget to think about how you are going to pay the test fee before you try to book a test slot. Payment is required at time of booking – no exceptions. The only possible modes of payment are major credit card (Visa, MC, Amex), debit card (Visa and MasterCard only), or LNAT e-voucher .
• Think ahead! More about payment and costs .
• You may only sit the LNAT once between 1 September 2025 and 31 July 2026. If you sit it twice during that period, the later sitting of the two will automatically be invalidated and the later result will be void.
• If you decide to re-apply to LNAT-participating universities in a later UCAS year, you must sit the LNAT again in that later UCAS year.

LNAT results cannot be carried forward from one academic year to the next.

The LNAT is a 2¼ hour test in two sections.

• Section A
  This section consists of 42 multiple choice questions. The questions are based on 12 argumentative passages, with 3 or 4 multiple choice questions on each. You will be given 95 minutes to answer all of the questions.
  
  You’ll be able to review your answers at any time during the 95 minutes, but you will not be able to return to the multiple choice section once you begin Section B.
• Section B
  In section B, you will have 40 minutes to answer one of three essay questions on a range of subjects to demonstrate your ability to argue economically and to come to a conclusion. You will need a good command of written English.
  
  When you reach the Review screen, do not click on End Review unless you have completed your essay and wish to end your session. If you wish to review or edit your essay response, click on the question number that it relates to.

You should set up your Pearson VUE account as soon as possible.
You don’t need to have completed your UCAS application before registering for the LNAT or taking the test.

Your UCAS number
You do not need your UCAS personal identifier number to register. You can enter 0000000000 instead (10 zeros). However, your real number is needed for the universities to link your LNAT score to your UCAS application. You must go back into your LNAT profile and edit it as soon as you receive your real UCAS number (please do not include the hyphens). It will delay your UK university application(s) if you do not later return to your profile and enter your correct UCAS ID number.
NB: candidates not applying to any UK university should enter ‘0000000000’

Who can register?
You can register yourself, or you can ask your teacher, parent or guardian to register for you. Remember though, that it is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are registered to take the test.

Your email address
It is very important that you use your correct email address when registering. We will use the address that you give us for all correspondence, including your results. If you change your email address after registering without informing Pearson VUE, your results will of course be sent to your original email address.

Once you have created an LNAT account and have your LNAT username and password you can book your test.

To book a test log in to your LNAT web account using your username and password and then use the navigation menu at the top left of the screen to make a booking.

The LNAT test can be taken on any day that there is an appointment slot free at the test centre you have chosen. The earlier you book, the more chance you have of getting an appointment on the day of your choice.

If you have examination access requirements (e.g. extended time for dyslexia, arrangements for impaired mobility, hearing or vision) you shouldn’t book your test online. Instead, you should follow the instructions on the Exam Access Requirements page .

Your LNAT test must be paid for in advance. You can pay using a major credit card, debit card where no pin number is needed or by LNAT e-voucher or bursary .

There are some exceptions to this for certain countries where credit card payments are not accepted .

You must take note of any testing deadlines imposed by particular LNAT-participating universities. It is your responsibility to do this. Neither the LNAT Consortium nor Pearson VUE takes responsibility for the consequences of not registering on time.

Bookings by schools and colleges
If your booking is being made by your school or college, remember that it is your responsibility to make sure that your booking is accurate and timely. No exceptions will be made in the event of mistakes with registration/bookings made by a third party.

Making changes to your profile, rescheduling, or cancelling a test
You can update your LNAT profile (except your name – see below), or reschedule or cancel your test by logging into your LNAT account .

Tests can be rescheduled without charge at any time up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment start time.
