Determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers for Classes I to VIII in government, local body and private schools across Telangana, 2026

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for appearing for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET-June-2026) to be conducted Online as Computer Based Test (CBT) by Department of School Education, Government of Telangana between 15/06/2026 and 30/06/2026.

In accordance with the provisions of Sub-Section (1) of Section 23 of the Right to Education Act (RTE), 2009, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had vide its Notification dated 23rd August, 2010 has laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that she / he should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE. Accordingly, Government of Telangana has issued guidelines for conducting Teacher Eligibility Test in Telangana State vide G.Os 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th cited in the reference above.

All candidates who possess D.El Ed. / D.Ed. / B.Ed. / Language Pandit or equivalent qualifications and candidates pursuing final year of the said courses with requisite percentage of marks obtained as given in the Information Bulletin of TGTET-June-2026 can appear for TGTET-June-2026. Further, the candidates who got qualified in the earlier TETs can also apply for TGTET-June-2026, if they desire improvement over their previous TET score.

TGTET-June-2026 will be conducted in 2 papers viz. Paper-I & Paper-II. The candidates who intend to be teachers for classes I to V have to appear for Paper-I and the candidates who intend to be teachers for classes VI to VIII have to appear for Paper-II. The candidates who intend to be teachers for all classes from I to VIII have to appear for both papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II.

TET for in-service teachers:

All in-service Teachers working in Government, Local Authority and Private (Aided and Unaided) management Schools are permitted to appear for TGTET conducted by the State Government or CTET conducted by the Central Government.

Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL Head Masters working in Government and Local Body Schools appointed with both D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. qualification are permitted to appear for Paper I

School Assistants, Language Pandits and Head Masters of High Schools are permitted to appear for Paper II.

Exam fee:
The exam fee prescribed for appearing for TGTET-June-2026 for General & BC candidates is Rs. 750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only) for either only Paper I or only Paper II and Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) for those appearing for both Papers I and II. For SC / ST / PwD candidates the exam fee would be Rs. 700/- for one paper and Rs. 950/- for two papers. Candidates can pay the exam fee through Online payment option provided at the website https://schooledu.telangana.gov.in from 15/04/2026 to 30/04/2026.

Candidates can submit their applications online from 15/04/2026 to 30/04/2026 at https://schooledu.telangana.gov.in.

Examination Centers (Districts) for TGTET-June-2026:
TGTET-June-2026 shall be conducted Online as Computer Based Test between 15/06/2026 and 30/06/2026. Candidates can submit order of preference of the examination centers (district) shown in the online application. However, Convenor, TGTET-June-2026 has the discretion to allot candidates to the examination districts depending on the capacity of any particular district.

Eligibility Criteria:
The qualifications prescribed for appearing at Paper I and Paper II of TGTET-June-2026 are given in Information Bulletin.
However, it is clarified that mere qualifying in TGTET would not confer a right on any candidate to be considered for appointment to the post of Teacher in Government / Local Authority / Private Aided Schools, which shall be in accordance with the relevant statutory recruitment rules framed by State Government from time to time.

The Director of School Education and Chairperson, TGTET is the competent authority to publish the initial key of the question papers after the conduct of CBT inviting objections through online, if any, from the candidates who appeared for the CBT, duly giving a reasonable time to the candidates for filing objections on the initial key and the same shall be disposed of by the expert committee constituted by the Director of School Education and Chairperson, TGTET. The final key shall be published for the information of candidates. Any representation / petition / objection on the key after the above stipulated period shall not be entertained.

The rules issued from time to time by the Department of Disabled Welfare shall be followed in respect of special representation for differently abled (Physically challenged) persons.

Validity period of TGTET Certificate / Marks Memo:
The validity period of TGTET qualifying certificates for appointment, unless otherwise notified by the Government of Telangana, would remain valid for life.

Weightage for TGTET Scores in Teacher Recruitment Test:
TET score shall have 20% weightage in Teacher Recruitment Test in the State of Telangana.
