The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI members for over 75 years, is one of India’s most trusted national-level entrance exams for admission to MBA/PGDM programs. With its unique approach to testing decision-making and critical thinking, XAT helps identify future business leaders beyond just academic excellence.

It is accepted by 250+ premier B-Schools and conducted in 100+ test cities across India, making it one of the most accessible and comprehensive MBA/PGDM entrance exams.

    XAT Exam date January 03, 2027 (02:00 P.M. to 05:00 P.M.)
  • Step-by-Step Guide to Complete the Form:
    • STEP-01
      In case the candidate is unable to complete the application form in one go, he / she can save the data already entered by choosing "SAVE AND NEXT" tab. Prior to submission of the online application candidates are advised to use the "SAVE AND NEXT" facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required. Visually Impaired candidates should fill the application form carefully and verify the details to ensure that the same are correct prior to final submission.
    • STEP-02
      Candidates are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/ entertained after clicking the FINAL SUBMIT BUTTON.
    • STEP-03
      Name of the candidate or his /her Father's name/ Mother's name etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets/Identity proof. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the candidature.
    • STEP-04
      Candidates can proceed to fill Academic and Work experience details in the Application Form.
    • STEP-05
      Select XLRI programme as per your preference if you want to study in XLRI. (Through XAT or Through GMAT)
    • STEP-06
      Select the XAT Test City preference. Candidates can choose 6 preferred test cities while filling XAT Application form. Candidates are advised to choose test city closer to their city of residence. However, the final authority to allot the TEST CITY rests with authority.
    • STEP-07
      Candidates can proceed to Scan and upload Photo & Signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines.
    • STEP-08
      Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the entire application form before FINAL SUBMIT.
    • STEP-09
      Modify details, if required, and click on "SUBMIT" ONLY after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature uploaded and other details filled by you are correct. 'Applicant details can not be edited once the application form is submitted after payment.'
    • STEP-10
      Click on the "Payment" Tab and Proceed for payment.
    • STEP-11
      Click on the "Submit" button.
  • Payment of Fees:
    • XAT Registration Fee - Rs. 2,300/-.
    • Candidates interested in XLRI programmes need to pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/- each.
    • Indian candidates can apply through GMAT/GRE for PGDM (GM) and XLRI PGDM (LSCM) (Double-Masters pathway leading to the MS in Supply Chain Analytics, Rutgers Business School-USA) whereas an NRI/Foreign/PIO/OCI can apply through GMAT for all the programmes.
    • Fee for Indian Candidates applying for PGDM(GM) through GMAT/GRE– Rs. 2,600/-.
    • Fee for NRI/Foreign/PIO/OCI candidates applying for one or more programmes through GMAT – Rs. 5,000/-.
  • Instructions:
    There is facility to download/print application form containing fee details after payment of fees. Before applying online a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his / her photograph and signature as per the specifications given below.
    - CANDIDATE MAY EDIT THE APPLICATION AND RE-UPLOAD THE PHOTOGRAPH/SIGNATURE IN SUCH CASE.
    • The application form is integrated with the payment gateway and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions.
    • The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / Master Card / Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.
    • After submitting your payment information, PLEASE WAIT FOR THE INTIMATION FROM THE SERVER. DO NOT PRESS BACK OR REFRESH BUTTON IN ORDER TO AVOID DOUBLE PAYMENT.
    • On successful completion of the transaction, an e-Receipt will be generated. Non-generation of 'E-Receipt' indicates PAYMENT FAILURE. On failure of payment, Candidates are advised to login again using their registered Email ID and Password and repeat the process of payment.
    • Candidates are required to take a printout of the e-Receipt and online Application Form. Please note that if the same cannot be generated, online transaction may not have been successful.
    • For Card charges are listed in Indian Rupee. If you use a non-Indian credit card, your bank will convert to your local currency based on prevailing exchange rates.

  • PGDM (GM) Admissions: Apply with GMAT/GRE Scores
    We are excited to announce that applications for the prestigious PGDM (General Management) program at XLRI Jamshedpur are now open. Prospective candidates are invited to apply using their GMAT or GRE scores. Launched in 1998, this program was among the first one-year MBA offerings in India and the first 18-month program to be recognized by AICTE.

    The PGDM (GM) program aims to transform experienced professionals from various corporate sectors into outstanding business managers and leaders.

    Notably, it is ranked 82nd worldwide in the Financial Times (FT) MBA Rankings, underscoring our commitment to providing top-tier management education.

    Eligibility:Candidates must possess a recognized bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline. Additionally, they should have a minimum of three years of managerial or supervisory experience by March 31, 2027. Applicants may submit GMAT or GRE scores taken between January 01, 2023 and December 31, 2026. Please note that XAT 2027 scores will also be accepted for this program. However, the XAT exam is scheduled for January 03, 2027 and requires a separate registration.

  • About Programme:
    XLRI offers a Eighteen-month full-time residential management program PGDM (GM), known as GMP. Incoming students having a minimum of three years of experience in varied fields like IT/ITeS, Energy/Power, Automobile, Manufacturing etc are crystallized into modern corporate warriors imbibed with a human touch. The course enables students to grasp the latest in management theory, broadens perspectives and launches them into new avenues of problem solving. Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VALR) The VA&LR section will encompass critical & analytical reasoning, reading comprehension (including poems, cartoons & passages etc.), vocabulary, English grammar, and other related exercises such as para jumbles, cloze tests etc. 26 170
Decision Making (DM) The DM section will present scenarios drawn from both personal and professional lives. Candidates will be required to apply critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and prioritization to make informed decisions. 21
Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation (QA & DI) In this section, the questions are designed to assess the quantitative aptitude of candidates who possess foundational understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, modern Maths, etc. The questions on DI are about clear interpretation, summarization, and insightful analysis of the data. 28
