Admission into 3-Years Diploma in Engineering and Technology Courses, 2026-27

The Registration portal for admission into the State Government Polytechnics of Assam for the session 2026-27 will be opened tentatively on 20th April, 2026.
Details of eligibility criteria will be made available in the website: www.dte.assam.gov.in from 10th April, 2026.

Programmes Offered by Government Polytechnics of Assam

At present twenty one (21) numbers of programmes are offered by the 26 Government Polytechnics of Assam. Different programmes offered are listed below:

Note: Sone new porgrammes may be introduced subject to necessary approval from the Government of Assam from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

For 3-Years Diploma courses in Engineering and Technology, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:

Candidates seeking admission into 3-Year Diploma Programmes offered by SCTE, Assam must register through the portal https://dte.assam.gov.in as and when notified by the competent authority.
The candidate must pass the H.S.L.C. or equivalent examination with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subject in a single sitting (without grace marks in Science and Mathematics) and also have to pass individually in both theory and practical/Internal Assessment with-
* 40% marks on Average in Mathematics and Science for General/ OBC-MOBC-NCL candidates.
* 35% marks on Average in Mathematics and Science for SC candidates.
* 33% marks on Average in Mathematics and Science for ST Candidates.
* In case of Person with disabilities (PwD) required percentage is as per his/her original category.
In case of students from the National Institute of Open Schooling [NIOS]
• Science & Technology may be considered in place of Science.
• In place of Social Science other subjects with higher mark may be considered.
In case of Students from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination Board [ICSE] Marks of History and Civics or Geography may be considered in place of Social Science.
NO COMPARTMENTAL CANDIDATE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE ADMISSION.

Application Process

To apply for 3 years diploma in Government Polytechnics of Assam, the applicants must visit the DTE, Assam website https//dte.assam.gov.in from the notified date.

The application process may be broadly divided into the following categories:

Registration in the online portal
Form fill up & document upload
Choice filling
Payment of registration fee

Applicants will be considered for rank generation only after completion of all the steps mentioned above.

Important Note:

There will be verification of the documents uploaded by the applicants after the registration and application process is over. Counselling process will start after the verification process. Applicants may receive calls/messages/emails on their registered mobile number/email regarding clarification on any information/document uploaded by the applicant. Applicants must respond to such calls/messages/emails on time. Failing to do so may result in rejection of his application.
As per the current transfer guidelines, no student is allowed to take transfer during the first year of study.
Though more number of choices increases the possibility of getting admitted, applicants are advised to fill up their choices wisely keeping in mind the point above.

Tentative Timeline for Admission in to 1st Semester of Diploma in Engineering & Technology Programmes in the State Government Polytechnics of Assam for the academic session 2026-27

Note:

The schedule may change as per decision of the competent authority.
During the verification process, applicants may receive queries through the portal and/or receive calls, email, SMS from the verifying authority for clarification on uploaded data and documents. If the same is not responded within the specified time, the verifying authority may reject the application.
