Admission to M.Sc. / M.Tech. Programmes, 2026-27

Applications are invited from Indian citizens only for admission to 2-year (4 Semester) Master's Degree Programmes (M.Sc. in Agriculture / M.Sc. in Horticulture / M.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering) of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) at Mohanpur Campus for the academic session 2026-27. Interested candidates may apply for admission to the Master's Degree Programmes through Online Admission Portal (www.bckv.edu.in )of the University.

• Allotment of Seats: As per Annexure-I and Annexure-II .
• Procedure of filling up of PG seats:
  Out of total seats (Programme-wise):
  • 70% seats will be reserved as University seats.
  • 30% seats will be reserved as ICAR's quota. ICAR'S nominees will be considered as per prevailing rules.
  All Master's Degree seats, excepting ICAR seats, will be filled up in the following manner:
  • Out of the 70% university seats: 80% seats will be filled from domicile of west Bengal and remaining 20% will be filled up from open category (domicile and nondomicile). During admission 80% domicile category seats will be filled first and then remaining 20% open category seats will be filled.
  • Eighty percent (80%) of the seats in each department rounded off to nearer absolute number will be filled up category-wise (UP / SC / ST / OBC / PwD / EWS) as per reservation policy of the Govemment of West Bengal on the basis of merit list.
  • Reservation policy of Government of West Bengal will also be followed in respect of filling the remaining 20% open category seats.
  • No benefit of reservation will be extended to the non-domicile candidates.
  • In case any seat falls vacant due to non-availability of domicile candidates, it will be filled up by non-domicile candidates on the basis of merit list.
  • The ICAR left over seats, if any, will be filled up by the students of BCKV only.
  • Only one time up-gradation will be allowed Major Subject-wise.
  • Admission test (to be conducted by BCKV) and also academic record will be considered for preparation of merit list.
• Guidelines for Entrance Examination of Master's Degree Programme:
  • Admission test will be conducted by BCKV.
  • Under three (3) Facutties (Agriculture, Horticulture & Agricultural Engineering) there will be total nine (9) Major Subjects to choose from Annexure-III .
  • The 09 (nine) Major Subjects are categorised under three Groups- A, B & C (Annexure-III ).
  • Admission test will be held Major Subject-wise.
  • Admission test for all the Major Subjects will be held on the same day in three separate time slots, specified for the three Groups (A/B/C) [Annexure-III ].
  • Candidates with Agriculture and Horticulture background can opt for any two Major Subjects under any two Groups (any one Major Subject under each Group).
  • Major Subject 9 - Agricultural Engineering will be available to B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering students only.
  • Agriculture graduates will have eight (8) Major Subjects (Major Subject I to 8) to choose from and Horticulture graduates will have only seven (7) Maior Subjects (Major subjects I to 8, except Major Subject 5) to choose from [B.Sc. (Hort.) graduates will not be eligible to apply for Agronomy Major Subject (Major Subject 5) [Annexure-III ].
  • At the time of counselling, as per merit list, the candidates shall get the opportunity of choosing a programme of study under the particular Major Subject for which they may get selected (details ofcourses is provided in Annexure-III ).
  • Candidates desiring to apply under two Major subjects, will be required to fill only one Application Form, and will not be required to pay Bny extra application fee.
  • Admission test will be of 60 (sixty) marks. The question paper will comprise of 60 MCQs of l(one) marks each and with 4 (four) unambiguous altematives.
  • The duration ofthe admission test will be of 1 (one) hour.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
• Merit list will be prepared according to the following weightge:

  Note: In respect ofcandidates who earlier got admitted in B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering Programme through Lateral Entry Scheme, in their case marks obtained by them in Diploma course's score will be considered in place of H.S. score.

  Candidates have to apply online through the BCKV admission portal (https://admission.bckv.co.in ) and application fee is to be paid as per the following rates. Application fees once paid will not be refunded.
