Admission notice for Ph.D. Programme in Teacher Education 2026

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Teacher Education, BSAEU.

Mode of application: Offline (Application form can be downloaded from www.bsaeu.in)
Number of Seats (Tentative): 34 (Thirty four) [Reservation Roster will be followed as per Govt. of W.B. issued from time to time]

Eligibility Criteria

M.Ed. with Post Graduate in any subject / M.A. in Education (with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade) with any one of the following

• B.Ed. (with 55% marks or equivalent grade) and Honours degree in any subject
Or
• 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (B. A., B. Ed. / B.Sc., B.Ed.) with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.

UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED in Education/pedagogy/school subjects is essential for application.

Note

1. Relaxation of 5% marks in the eligibility criteria as stated above is admissible for reserved categories of SC/ST and as per Govt. of West Bengal rules and regulations)As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 of the Government of West Bengal, the Scheduled Castes/ the Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as a proof for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.

Submission of Application

The candidate must submit the filled in Application Form (can be downloaded from www.bsaeu.in) along with the following

1. self-attested photocopies of all the marksheets, certificates and other testimonials
2. two copies of recent passport size colour photograph
3. any one valid photo identity proof (Voter Card / PAN Card / Aadhaar Card)
4. Receipt of online application fees is to be attached with form.

Application fees & Link:

• Rs. 1000/- for Unreserved category.
• Rs. 500/- for S.C / S.T / OBC (Non- Creamy layer) / EWS/Differently Abled category.

NB: As the University is still not having UGC 12(b) recognition, the successful and eligible candidates may not get JRF and other UGC fellowship.

Application are to be sent by hand or by post and the envelop should be superscribed “Application for PhD admission”.
