HS Admission 2026 Process Merit Documents

Admission Procedure

1. Candidates must apply through the DARPAN portal of Assam State School Education Board, DIV-II (ASSEB) selecting Cotton University as one option, which can be accessed through the webpage https://darpan.ahseconline.in. There is no provision for submission of offline application. Merit list for admission shall be prepared only from the applications received through DARPAN portal and will be notified through Cotton University website. In case of candidates who passed the 10th or equivalent examination from CBSE and any other boards, the marks obtained in the additional subject shall not be considered for calculation of percentage (%).

2. Canvassing in any form for securing admission shall render a candidate disqualified.

3. The candidate must bring the following documents (Original and 1 set photocopy) at the time of admission for physical verification:

(a). Recent passport size photograph of the candidate
(b). Marksheet of the last qualifying examination
(c). Valid up to date Caste Certificate (if applicable) of the candidate issued only by a competent authority under Govt. of Assam.
(d). Domicile certificate where applicable.
(e). Income Certificate in the name of parent only/ family ration card for Fee Waiver if applicable.
(f). Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Local Circle Officer of revenue circle in case the candidate wants to be considered for seats reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)

4. GAPINSTUDY: A student passing the qualifying examination earlier than the Current year will have to submit a signed declaration, counter signed by her/his parent or guardian, testifying to her/his activities during the interim period. Candidates having more than 3 (three) years study gap, i.e. students passing HSLC or equivalent before 2023, shall not be eligible for admission

5. Hostel allotment and admission may require a separate procedure at a later date after admission.

Waiver of Admission Fee,Tuition Fees etc.of Govt.ofAssam

The scheme of waivers of admission fees, tuition fees etc.shall apply as per the Assam Government rules, if notified by the Government for the academic year 2026-27.

General Reservation Rules for Higher Secondary

A. There is a provision for reservation of seats as per Govt.of Assam rules for SC,ST(P), ST(H),OBC/MOBC candidates belonging to the State of Assam. In this respect caste certificate issued only by a competent authority under Govt. of Assam shall be valid.

B. As per Govt of Assam rules for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs), there is a 10% reservation in the Unreserved Category.

C. A few seats of HS are reserved for students having outstanding performance in the field of Sports, Culture, NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides as well as for students from states other than Assam and from other countries (to be called EC etc., quota).

(i). The relaxation of 25% is allowed in cut-off marks for all courses and for all categories for admission in EC etc. quota seats.

(ii). For both HS Science and HS Arts, the maximum number of reserved seats under the EC etc. quotas are:

Sports:5
Cultural:5
NCC:3
NSS: 1
Scouts & Guides:1
Other states: 4(Domicile Certificate to be produced)
Other countries:2 (Passport to be produced)

(iii) An outstanding sports person or cultural activist who has represented the country in international events within a period of at most three years prior to the date of admission will be admitted directly without considering the cut-off mark. However, the maximum number of reserved seats in a particular field will not be enhanced for inclusion of such candidates.

(iv) Sportspersons will be selected from those disciplines which are recognized by IOC and BCCI and also such sports which are included in All India University meets. In case of Cultural quota, students will be selected on the basis of proficiency in the fields of Music (Vocal/Instrumental), Dance, Drama, Debating and Quiz, Fine Arts and Sculpting.

(v) DA Quota: Reservation for candidates belonging to the Differently Abled (PWD) category will be as per the rules of the Govt. of Assam.

(vi) A student admitted under extra-curricular category must participate in relevant Competitions /events as sought by the University Authority.
