Admission to Bachelor of Science–Master of Science (BS–MS) integrated Programme in Physics, Chemistry and Applied Geology, 2026-27

The Bachelor of Science–Master of Science (BS–MS) integrated programme in Physics, Chemistry, and Applied Geology is designed in accordance with the vision and framework of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes multidisciplinary education, flexibility, and holistic development. This programme aims to cultivate a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences while encouraging interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and research-oriented skills.

This integrated programme reflects the transformative goals of NEP 2020 by bridging disciplinary boundaries and equipping students with the knowledge and skills required in a rapidly evolving scientific and technological landscape.
These programs are offered by the following three Departments:

Chemistry (BS-MS in Chemistry)
Earth Sciences (BS-MS in Applied Geology)
Physics (BS-MS in Physics)

BS-MS (5 years) with one major and two minors – combining Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS)

Multiple Exit Options
- BS UG Degree after 3rd Year
- BS (Honours) / BS (Honours with Research) Degree after 4th Year
- BS–MS Dual Degree after 5th Year

BS-MS Admission

Total Seats: 40 Each Department

Option I
Admission through JoSAA (20 seats for each Department): Candidates can apply through JoSAA after qualifying JEE Main Examination. (Link to be updated soon)
The candidates are requested to check the eligibility and other criteria for admission before applying.

Option II
Admission using IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) Score (20 seats for each Department): Candidates having valid IAT score can apply through Institute Website directly (Link to be provided in June 2026, after publication of IAT 2026 result).

Option III
If any seat remains vacant after JoSAA counselling and Institute counselling using IAT score, the admission for the remaining seats will be done through Institute Spot Round.
