  • Check University website regularly for all updates.
  • There is no application fees. However, the last Date of submission of fees for admission test (Rs. 200/- for candidates under SC/ST/PD/EWS categories and Rs. 400/- for candidates under other categories. No admission test fees for Geological Sciences) through online is 06/6/2026.

  • If any Board does not provide any marks (only grade) to the candidates in class 10th board examination, then the candidates of that particular Board have to convert their grades into marks as per the rules of that concerned Board and should enter that marks into the online application form.
  • The University shall not be liable for any implication (be responsible in any way) in case any of the information submitted by the applicant is found to be erroneous and incorrect. His/her application/ counseling/ admission may be terminated in such cases.
  • No separate communication in the form of email/SMS/phone will be made to the candidates. All necessary information will be available in the website only.

  • No candidates will be allowed to sit for admission test if he/she has not paid the examination fees (Admit card is mandatory).
  • Students are allowed to bring transparent water bottles in the examination Hall.
  • The sitting arrangement will be notified on the web-site at the earliest.
Eligibility Criteria
  • An applicant must have completed results at the 10+2 level at the time of application.
  • Incomplete and/or incorrect application shall be liable to be cancelled.
  • In academic session 2026- 27, all the students will be admitted to the 4-year Undergraduate courses under Faculty of Science as per National Curriculum and Credit Framework vide UGC D.O. No.1-1/2021(QIP) (CBCS) dated 31/01/2023 and Notification No. 354-Edn(CS)/10M-95/14 dated 02/6/2023.
  • Lateral entry and/or lateral exit is not allowed for 1st year and 2nd year.
  • Change of discipline (from minor to major) is not allowed.
  • For a candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of document verification that the marks he/she had stated at the time of application is more than what he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her provisional admission will be cancelled.
  • Following eligibility and selection procedures are applicable only for students of Indian national. Foreign students or others who have completed schools (10+2) outside India must check Foreign Students Admission at https://jadavpuruniversity.in/studentslanding-page/foreign-students for application procedure, eligibility and other criteria.
  • Maximum tenure of studentship for the admitted candidates will be as per the UGC circular no- F.12-1/2015(CPP-II) .
  • If any Board does not provide any marks (only grade) to the candidates in class 10th board examination, then the candidates of that particular Board have to convert their grades into marks as per the rules of that concerned Board and should enter that marks into the online application form.
For Physics, Chemistry & Geological Sciences Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and having secured at least 75% marks in average obtained in Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics are eligible.

In case of OBC category, minimum requirement of marks is 67.5% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects.

In case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marks is 56.25% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.
For Mathematics Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science & Statistics and having secured at least 75% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible.

In case of OBC category, minimum requirement of marks is 67.5% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects.

For Geography Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications & Economics and having secured at least 75% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible.

In case of OBC category, minimum requirement of marks is 67.5% in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects.

In case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marks is 56.25% in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.

As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal.
Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.

The reservation for OBC category in the admission process will be carried forward as per the order of Govt. of West Bengal, order no- 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18th May, 2026.

Candidates provisionally selected under OBC category should submit a valid NCL certificate (issued by competent authority) which should not be earlier than 18th May, 2026.

OBC candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.

  • Candidate should have represented a state or its equivalent in any National Championship (Junior / Youth / Senior / Federation Cup / National Games) or higher conducted under the aegis of respective Federation / Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association. Sponsored representation or extra entry is not allowed for State or National level Competition.
    OR
  • Candidate should have represented a state in National School Competition conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
    OR
  • Candidate must qualify by securing a position 1st / 2nd / 3rd in an individual event/sports or by being a member of the Champion/Runners up team in a team event/sports/games at Inter-Dist/State Championship (open) or higher, provided the event is conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association in the sports and games offered by the A.I.U.
  • Sport-Specific Criteria:
    • *For Chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1900 and above for Boys and FIDE rating (standard) 1450 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
    • *For Tennis, applicant having the current AITA ranking upto 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking upto 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The FIDE rating/AITA ranking for chess & tennis respectively is applicable either on the day/week of publication of advertisement or any update from 01.01.2026 for admission under sports quota.
    • *For Table Tennis & Badminton: applicant having the current Annual All India ranking upto 96th Position (Singles) & 24th Position (Doubles) for Senior category or ranking upto 48th Position (Singles) for Junior (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The Annual All India ranking for Table Tennis & Badminton respectively is applicable either on the day / week of publication of advertisement or any update from 01.01.2026 for admission under sports quota.
    • *For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1st Division Club or above with participation of 30% matches or represented any 2nd Division Club or above with participation of 60% matches either in the current year or any one of the two preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA or any State Association.
    • *For Rowing, applicant only with an outdoor Rowing Championship will be considered; indoor Championship will not be allowed.
    OR
    Applicant may eligible for all above sports events if having the criteria as specified in a) / b) / c) for UG Level.
Such sports representations at UG or PG courses are to be made within current year or any one of the two preceding calendar years (i,e commencing from 1st January, 2024) only.

Certificates of participation (Click here for format ) in Sports/Games must be obtained from the competent authorities. Applicant must submit the certificates in prescribed format along with a print out of online application and all Sports Certificate in person or by post to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, TEQIP Building, Ground Floor (Room No- 106), Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before June 25, 2026.
University shall not be liable for any kind of postal delay.

Participants in Tournaments/Events organized or certified by bodies other than those mentioned above are not eligible.
Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under RPD Act, 2016.
  • Reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) will be as per notification no. 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26th May, 2023 from Government of West Bengal.
  • The EWS certificate of 2026-27 financial year is only valid for admission in this academic session.
Anti-Ragging:
It is being brought to the notice of all concerned that Ragging is not only a social evil but also a penal offence. Any student/s indulging in ragging of any student/s including freshers during admission / interview and / or subsequently at the hostel or in the class or in the corridors or anywhere inside and outside of the campus, shall be severely dealt with on pain of punishment ranging from loss of academic year / loss of hostel boardership to expulsion from the university itself. Reporting to the Police Station may also be made in addition to the above punishment. The University is to follow all the directives of the “UGC REGULATION ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009 under the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Selection Procedure
Incomplete application in any respect will be summarily rejected.

Merit lists of the candidates for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geological Sciences and Geography will be prepared as follows:
For Physics Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of (i) 50% weightage of marks obtained in average of Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics in 10+2 Board Examination and (ii) 50% weightage of the performance in written admission test.
Type: OMR based MCQ type questions
For Chemistry Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of (i) 50% weightage of marks obtained in average of Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics in 10+2 Board Examination and (ii) 50% weightage of the performance in written admission test.
Type: Short question-answer type
For Mathematics Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of (i) 50% weightage of marks obtained in average of Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics in 10+2 Board Examination and (ii) 50% weightage of the performance in written admission test.
Type: OMR based MCQ type questions
For Geography Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of (i) 50% weightage of marks obtained in average of Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Economics in 10+2 Board Examination and (ii) 50% weightage of the performance in written admission test.
Type: OMR based MCQ type questions
For Geological Sciences Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics: (Score out of 300) in the 10+2 Board examination.
There will be no Admission Test.
The following rule will be implemented at the time of selection for all subjects
  • Passing year 2026, 2025, 2024 & 2023:- Percentage of marks as obtained by the candidates.
  • Passing year 2022 and prior to 2022: 10% reduction of marks from the percentage of marks as obtained by the candidates.
  • For Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, the question papers for the admission test will be set on the respective subjects only of 10+2 level.
  • The syllabus of the admission test will be as per WBCHSE 10+2 level and/or equivalent Boards of 10+2 level.
  • For Geography, question paper will be set on Mathematics of 10+2 level and on basic knowledge of Geography, General Science & Environmental Science.
In case of bunching of marks in the merit lists for admission of the last candidate the selection be made as per the following criteria:
For Physics 1st Level: Marks obtained in Physics at 10+2 level
2nd Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at 10+2 level
3rd Level: Marks obtained in Chemistry at 10+2 level
4th Level: Marks obtained in written admission test
For Chemistry 1st Level: Marks obtained in Chemistry at 10+2 level
2nd Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at 10+2 level
3rd Level: Marks obtained in Physics at 10+2 level
4th Level: Marks obtained in written admission test
For Mathematics 1st Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at 10+2 level
2nd Level: Marks obtained in best of four (4) subjects at 10+2 level
3rd Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at Class 10 board exam
For Geological Sciences 1st Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at 10+2 level
2nd Level: Marks obtained in Physics at 10+2 level
3rd Level: Marks obtained in Chemistry at 10+2 level
4th Level: Marks obtained in best of four (4) subjects at 10+2 level
5th Level: Marks obtained in Mathematics at Class 10 board exam
