About the Course:
The course introduces learners to the foundations of public policy and the application of behavioral sciences to policy-formulation, meaningful social intervention and on-the-ground problem-solving. It combines conceptual learning with programme design, evidence-based decision-making, field engagement and the evaluation of public interventions, with particular attention to the Indian context.

The programme is intended for graduates, teachers, development and communication professionals, publicsector and civil-society practitioners, researchers, programme managers and others interested in using behavioural insights to improve policy design and implementation.

Indicative Areas of Study:

• Foundations of public policy, governance and institutions.
• Behavioural science theories, decision-making and choice architecture.
• Communication, policy research, programme design, developmental campaigns, qualitative analysis, monitoring and evaluation, case studies and field exposure.

Application Procedure:

• Download the specific application form from the Jadavpur University website on or after 3 November, 2026.
• Complete the form in full and attach self-attested copies of the required documents and one recent passport-size photograph.
• Enclose a Bank Draft of Rs. 100/- as the non-refundable application fee, payable at Kolkata in favour of THE REGISTRAR, JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA.
• Submit the application in a sealed envelope marked 'Application - Advanced Diploma in Public Policy and Behavioural Sciences (2026-27)' by hand or post so that it reaches the office no later than 05:30 P.M. on 30 November, 2026.

Selection, Admission and Fees:
Selection: The University's decision regarding eligibility, viva-voce and selection will be final.

Course fee: Rs. 15,000/- plus 18% GST i.e. Rs. 17,700/- in total.

At the time of admission: Selected candidates must produce their original testimonials for verification, submit a set of self-attested photocopies, and deposit the course fee through a Bank Draft of Rs. 17,700/- payable at Kolkata in favour of THE REGISTRAR, JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA.

Venue, Academic Arrangement and Certification:
The diploma course will be conducted in the Jadavpur University main campus, Jadavpur, Kolkata - 700032.

Important:

• Incomplete applications, applications made without paying the requisite fee, and applications received after the deadline will be rejected.
• Candidates must keep track of the Jadavpur University website for all the notices and information concerned.
• For any queries, the offices of School of Media, Communication and Culture (UG Arts building, ground floor) or of the Department of International Relations (PG Arts building, 1st floor) may be contacted (Both near gate no. 4 of JU campus).
• No separate postal communication will be made at any stage of the selection process.
