Honours/Major Graduate (10+2+3) in any Discipline: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (45% for OBC-A/B category and 40% for SC/ST/PD categories) from Jadavpur University or any other university recognized as equivalent by the statutory bodies of the University, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the regulatory bodies. Additionally, candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in a State/ Central Government-recognized Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2).
OR
Pass Graduate (10+2+3) in any Discipline: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (49.5% for OBC-A/B category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories) from Jadavpur University or any other university recognized as equivalent by the statutory bodies of the University, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the regulatory bodies. Additionally, candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in a State/ Central Government-recognized Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2).
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical/Law, and other Professional Courses: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (49.5% for OBC-A/B category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories) from Jadavpur University or any other University recognized by the statutory bodies of the University, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the regulatory bodies. Additionally, candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in a State/ Central Government-recognized Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2).
OR
Honours/Major/Pass Graduate (10+2+3) in any Discipline with a Certificate in Library Science: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (45% for OBC-A/B category and 40% for SC/ST/PD categories) from Jadavpur University or any other university recognized by the statutory bodies of the university, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the regulatory bodies. Additionally, candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in a state/central government-recognized Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) and must possess a state/central governmentrecognized certificate in Library Science (minimum six months) with at least 65% marks.
Note: If a candidate’s graduate degree does not explicitly specify "Honours" or "Major" on the mark sheet, it will be considered equivalent to a Major in the relevant discipline, provided that at least 50% of the total marks in the degree were obtained in courses or papers related to that discipline.

All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's and/or Masters Degree course or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC and completed result in Certificate in Library & Information Science at the time of application.

Applications with incomplete results shall be rejected. A candidate shall be denied admission (even if he/she is provisionally selected on the basis of information provided by the applicant) if, at the time of verification of results, it is detected by the Faculty Office/Department of Library and Information Science that his/her results are not complete.

A student whose mark-sheet/grade-card does NOT mention marks obtained, and only shows grades, must submit an equivalent certificate/formula from the concerned University to convert grades to percentage marks at the time of documents verification. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of her/his application.
For candidates under SC/ST category:
As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
For candidates under OBC-A/OBC-B category:
The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBCB categories must produce an OBC certificate as per Gazette notification No. 1106-BCW/MR-33/2025 dated 3rd June, 2025 and 917-BCW/MR-33/2025 dated 8th May, 2025 issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal.
OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.
For Candidates under PD category:
Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under RPD Act, 2016.
FOR E.W.S CATEGORY:

Reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) will be as per notification no. 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26th May, 2023 from Government of West Bengal.

The EWS certificate of 2026- 27 financial year is only valid for admission in this academic session.
