• B.P.Ed. is a two years (Day) course as approved by NCTE.
• This is a residential course. Classes will begin at 05:50 A.M. in the morning and continue till evening (05:30 P.M.) with a mid-day break.

Conditions of Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the Inter-College / Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks.
  OR
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied Physical Education as compulsory/elective subject.
  OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 45% marks and having participated in National / Inter University / State competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in Inter-College / Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  OR
• Bachelor’s degree with participation in international competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National / Inter-University competition in sports and games as recognized by respective federations/AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  OR
• Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in-service candidates i.e. trained physical education teachers/coaches).

The relaxation in the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and the reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B categories shall be as per the rules of the State Government.

Candidates who have completed results of B.A./B.Sc. course or equivalent can only apply for admission to B.P.Ed. course.

All admissions are provisional.

As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.

The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC-A and OBC-B categories must produce an OBC certificate as per Gazette notification No. 1106-BCW/MR-33/2025 dated 3rd June, 2025 and 917-BCW/MR-33/2025 dated 8th May, 2025 issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.

Candidates who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria as mentioned above will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally called for admission test and/or provisionally selected for admission.

Applicants are requested to carefully read the Instructions given in the prescribed application form. Students will be admitted against SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Quota as per state Govt. rules.

For the candidates under the SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Quota: Certificates must be obtained from a competent authority in the name of the candidates themselves.

All applicants have to be produced all the original mark-sheets and certificates for verification on the day of admission test.

It is mandatory for the applicants to produce fitness certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner at the time of admission test, otherwise he/she will not be allowed to take part in the admission test. Selected candidates will be required to submit another fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner at the time of reporting on the day for the B.P.Ed. course when the actual mode of course again started.

Selection of candidates will be made on the basis

• Practical:
  3 fitness factor: 50mtr. run, Standing broad jump and 4x10mtr shuttle run: 3 x 10 = 30
  Sports/Games Specialization: Any 1(one) game from Athletics (any one event), Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Badminton, Netball, Handball, Yoga, Combative games: 1 x 10 = 10
• Theory exam for final selection (MCQ, brief answer type, short notes): 50 marks
• Academic score (05 for Secondary and 05 for Higher Secondary examination): 10 marks

Full marks: 100

All eligible applicants will be required to appear at the Admission Test (Practical & Written) on the specified date and time.

List of candidates called for appearing in the Admission Test and the schedule of Admission Test will be published on 05/06/2026 on the university website jadavpuruniversity.in.

Admission test (Practical & written) is likely to be held at 06:00 A.M. on 10/06/2026, 11/06/2026 & 12/06/2026 at Small Area Games Arena (SAGA), Jadavpur University Playground. Candidates should enquire about the schedule of the Admission Test at University website on 05/06/2026. He/she must produce fitness certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner at the time of practical test, otherwise he/she will not be allowed to appear in the test. Selected candidates will be required to submit another fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner at the time of reporting for the course.

No Separate Call Card will be sent to individual candidates.

No candidate will be considered for admission unless he/she appears at the written test after the Practical Test. Candidates are to directly report to the Head of the Department concerned 30 minutes before the scheduled time on the date of the Admission Test.

No candidate who does not satisfy the eligibility criteria will be considered for admission, even if he/she appears at the Admission Test and Interview and also if he/she has been provisionally selected for admission.

The merit list as well as admission instructions for the provisionally selected candidates will be published on 19/06/2026 after 04:00 P.M.

No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates. Subsequent lists of provisionally selected candidates against vacancies, if any, will also be put up on the University website.

It is mandatory for the students who are admitted to the B.P.Ed. course are required to reside in the University Hostel. The fees for Educational Tour/ Blazer and other sports clothing/camp/mess charge etc will be notified at the time of admission. The fees are non-refundable. If a student cancels his/her admission, he/she may apply for refund of the fees. The fees will be refunded [as per the order no- 209 (29-Edn(U)/1U-32/17 dated 24/7/2017) of State Govt.] only if any candidate on the waiting list is admitted against the vacancy created. However, under no circumstances, the fees will be refunded before the completion of the academic session 2026-2027.

All applicants must submit the print out of online application form along with the print out of money receipt and self-attested copies of mark-sheets and certificates in person or by post to the office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Arts, U.G. Arts Building, Ground Floor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before June 2, 2026, otherwise their candidature will be cancelled.
University will not be liable for any kind of postal delay.

Anti-Ragging:
It is being brought to the notice of all concerned that Ragging is not only a social evil but also a penal offence. Any student/s indulging in ragging of any student/s including freshers during admission / interview and / or subsequently at the hostel or in the class or in the corridors or anywhere inside and outside of the campus, shall be severely dealt with on pain of punishment ranging from loss of academic year / loss of hostel boardership to expulsion from the university itself. Reporting to the Police Station may also be made in addition to the above punishment.
