Eligibility Criteria For Master of Library and Information Science course
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (49.5% for OBC and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories), along with a minimum of 55% marks in B.L.I.Sc. (49.5% for OBC and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories), from a recognized University or any other Higher Education Institution recognized as equivalent by the statutory bodies of the University, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the relevant regulatory bodies.

Eligibility Criteria For Master of Library and Information Science (Digital Library) course
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (49.5% for OBC and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories), along with a minimum of 55% marks in B.L.I.Sc. (49.5% for OBC and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD categories), from a recognized University or any other Higher Education Institution recognized as equivalent by the statutory bodies of the University, in accordance with the norms prescribed by the relevant regulatory bodies.

• All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's and BLIS Degree course or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of application.]
• Applications with incomplete results shall be rejected. A candidate shall be denied admission (even if he/she is provisionally selected on the basis of information provided by the applicant) if, at the time of verification of results, it is detected by the Faculty Office/Department of Library and Information Science that his/her results are not complete.
• For candidates under SC/ST category:
  As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
• For candidates under OBC category:
  The reservation for OBC category in the admission process will be carried forward as per the order of Govt. of West Bengal, order no945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18th May 2026.
  Candidates provisionally selected under OBC category should submit a valid NCL certificate (issued by competent authority) which should not be earlier than 18th May, 2026.
  OBC candidates from the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.
• For Candidates under PD category:
  Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under RPD Act, 2016.
• FOR E.W.S category:
  - Reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) will be as per notification no. 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26th May, 2023 from Government of West Bengal.
  - The EWS certificate of 2026-27 financial year is only valid for admission in this academic session.

Among the total available seats for admission, the ratio for Home University students to Other University students shall be 80:20.

• Home University Students (80% of the Total Seats Available)
  For Home University students, 80% of the total seats are available. Selection in this category will be made strictly on the basis of merit, determined by the marks obtained in the BLISc or an equivalent degree. In the case of a tie in marks among two or more applicants, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree will be ranked higher on the merit list.
• Non-Home University Students (20% of the Total Seats Available)
  For Non-Home University students, 20% of the total seats are available. Selection in this category will be made strictly on the basis of merit, determined by the marks obtained in the BLISc or an equivalent degree. In the case of a tie in marks among two or more applicants, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree will be ranked higher on the merit list.
