Provisional Merit List for Admission to Bachelor of Library & Information Science (B.L.I.Sc.) Course, 2026-27

  • The Merit Lists are provisional and is subject to:
    • fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier.
    • verification of the equivalence of marks/degrees from other Boards/Councils to those of the West Bengal council of Higher Secondary Education /Other equivalent Board/Council, wherever applicable.
    • correction in the merit position due to error, if any.
  • All admissions are provisional.
  • If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is found by the university authority that
    • a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, s/he will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission.
    • a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line application form, his/her rank position in the selection/merit list provided below shall be revised and corrected accordingly on the basis of actual marks obtained in the examination concerned.
  • SC / ST / OBC / PD / EWS quota as per State Govt. rules.
  • No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.
  • If a candidate fails to appear on the specified date and at the specified time for admission, the next candidate in order of merit will be considered for admission.
  • Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the time of counselling/admission:
    • A print out of the on-line application.
    • 2 (two) recent passport size photographs.
    • Admit card of admission test.
    • All original marksheets, certificates including SC/ST/OBC/PD/EWS certificates from competent authorities in the names of the candidates themselves where applicable, are to be shown at the time of interview for verification.
    • Candidates admitted under OBC category must submit a NonCreamy Layer (NCL) certificate. The certificate should not be issued earlier than 18th May, 2026.
    • The Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification).
    • attested copies of all marksheets, certificates, Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification) are to be sumitted at the time of admission.
    • Parents/Guardian's income certificate issued by the employer with office seal for the employed person and for others by competent authority.
    • If the provisionally selected candidate has completed his/her last degree in 2024 or before but have NOT taken admission in any other full time day-course: An affidavit (on a non-Judicial Stamp Paper) that he/she is not registered in any other day-course anywhere/elsewhere.
    • Anti Ragging Undertaking by student and his/her Parent/Guardian (CLICK HERE ).

Note:
  • As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency in West Bengal issued by competent authority.
  • Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under RPD Act, 2016.
  • The reservation for OBC category in the admission process will be carried forward as per the order of Govt. of West Bengal, order no- 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18th May 2026.
  • Candidates provisionally selected under OBC category should submit a valid NCL certificate (issued by competent authority) which should not be earlier than 18th May, 2026.
  • OBC candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency in West Bengal issued by competent authority.
  • The EWS certificate of 2026-27 financial year is only valid for admission in this academic session.
Verification/Admission Process:
Names of candidates in the provisional merit lists will be called on 23/06/2026 at 11:30 A.M. If any candidate fails to turn up when his/her name is called the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list and that candidate shall NOT be allowed to take admission to this course later. The process will continue till the seats are filled up. The rest of the candidates are advised to record their attendance.

CLASSES WILL BEGIN ON JULY 1, 2026 AT 1:00 A.M.
The candidates admitted to B.L.I.Sc course should have at least 50% attendance of total classes held during two weeks, failing which his/her studentship will be treated as cancelled without further reference.
It is being brought to the notice of all concerned that Ragging is not only a social evil but also a penal offence. Any student/s indulging in ragging of any student/s including freshers during admission / interview and / or subsequently at the hostel or in the class or in the corridors or anywhere inside and outside of the campus, shall be severely dealt with on pain of punishment ranging from loss of academic year / loss of hostel boardership to expulsion from the university itself. Reporting to the Police Station may also be made in addition to the above punishment. The University is to follow all the directives of the “UGC REGULATION ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009 under the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Fees to be deposited at the time of Admission:

If a student cancels his/her admission, he/she may apply for refund of the fees. The fees will be refunded as per the D.O no.-F.2-71/2022 (CPP-II) dated 03/7/2023) by UGC. However, under no circumstances, the fees will be refunded before the completion of the academic session 2025-2026.
