Admission to B.P.Ed. Programme, 2026-2027

Online applications are invited from graduates of recognized Universities for admission to the B.P.Ed. Programme in 2026-2027.

Duration:
2 Years or 4 Semesters (As per latest NCTE Regulation)

• Total Seats: Department of Physical Education & Sports Science, University of Kalyani - 50 seats (Male - 34, Female - 16)
• Prabharani Institute of Education (B.P.Ed. College) - 50 Seats

Eligibility: Norm as per NCTE Regulation.

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the Inter College/Inter-Zonal/District/School Competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  Or
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks.
  Or
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as compulsory, elective subject.
  Or
• Bachelor’s degree with 45% marks and having participated in National/Inter University/State Competitions or secured 1st, 2nd, 3rd position in Inter College/Inter Zonal/District/School Competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  Or
• Bachelor’s degree with participation in International Competitions or secured 1st, 2nd, 3rd position in National/Inter University Competitions in sports and games as recognized by respective Federations AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
  Or
• Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in service candidates i.e, trained physical education teachers/coaches)

Candidates should possess good physique, sound health and must be proficient in games and sports. Candidates should not be above 30 years as on 1st July, 2026. However, the age may be relaxed up to 32 years for the candidates with exceptional achievement in games and sports (Participation in at least National/Inter University Tournaments). Deputed candidates must submit relevant papers in support of deputation from recognized schools duly counter-signed by D.I. of school along with their applications.

Candidates provisionally selected for admission will have to undergo a medical test at the Health Centre of the University before admission in B.P.Ed. Course.

The relaxation of the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and the reservation of seats for SC /ST will be as per the rules. Such candidates should furnish relevant certificate issued by the competent authority with their application.

Distribution and Reservation of Seats:
SC/ST quota as per state Govt. Rules.
90% of seat intake will be reserved for Fresh Candidates and 10% for untrained inservice deputed teachers.
The intake ratio for home University and other Universities shall be 80:20.

Admission Procedure:
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Field Test, Academic Qualifications and Interview.
Total 100 Marks.

• Practical Test: 40 marks
  A) Standing Broad Jump = 10,
  B) 50 mt. Run = 10,
  C) Shot Put = 10,
  D) 800 mt. Run for Boys / 400 mt. Run for Girls = 10
• Academic Achievement: 50 marks
  A) Madhyamik/Equivalent = 10
  B) Higher Secondary/ Equivalent = 10
  C) B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./ Equivalent = 20
  D) M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./ Equivalent = 10
• Interview: 10 marks
