Notification on Registration of the Academic Year 2026-27

Phase-I Registration of students allotted/admitted through WBJEE-2026, WBJEMAT, PGET (except M. Pharm) and CET-2026 excluding Decentralise / Direct Admission to the extent applicable for the Academic Year 2026–27

In continuation of the University's approved admission and registration framework as outlined in the Notification No. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/009 dated 03.07.2026 read with the Notification No. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/028 dated 09.07.2026 and in accordance with the policies, decisions, directions and resolutions of the competent authorities of the University, it is hereby notified for information and necessary action of all affiliated colleges/institutions along with In-house Departments that Phase-I Entry in the University Registration Portal (https://makaut.wb.gov.in) for the Academic Year 2026–27 shall commence on and from 31.07.2026 (Friday) in respect of students admitted during the Academic Year 2026–27 who are otherwise eligible for registration under the applicable Act, Regulations, rules, policies, Notifications and directions of the University and other competent/statutory authorities, as amended from time to time.

At present, the Registration Portal is enabled for processing Phase-I registration data of students allotted/admitted through WBJEE-2026, WBJEMAT, PGET (except M. Pharm) and CET-2026 excluding Decentralise / Direct Admission to the extent applicable and as permitted under the prevailing admission and registration norms. Enablement of the portal, acceptance of data, generation of a Reference Number, provisional registration number, or any automated communication shall not, by itself, confer or be construed as conferring any right to admission, enrolment or registration where the underlying admission or eligibility is not in conformity with the applicable norms.

The concerned affiliated college/institution/ HoD concerned of In-house departments along with registration officials as notified vide Nos. I. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/009 dated 03.07.2026 read with II. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/028 dated 09.07.2026 shall be responsible for verifying, before submission, the student's identity, eligibility, allotment/admission particulars, qualifying examination records, category and other supporting documents, as applicable, and for ensuring that all information uploaded or entered in the portal is complete, accurate and supported by authentic records. The University shall be entitled to call for original or additional documents and to verify, rectify, withhold, suspend or cancel any registration, in accordance with applicable law and University rules, if any information or document is found to be incorrect, deficient, misleading, fraudulent or otherwise non-compliant.

Upon successful completion of Phase-I data entry, a system-generated Reference Number may be issued against the student and an automated communication may be sent to the registered email address. Such Reference Number or communication is only an acknowledgement of completion/receipt of the relevant portal process and shall not be treated as final confirmation of eligibility or registration.

Simultaneously, Phase-I Scrutiny shall be made available through the Principal Login of each affiliated college/institution. The Principal/Head of the Institution, or the duly authorised functionary acting under his/her responsibility, shall complete the prescribed scrutiny within the notified timeline. Completion of Phase-I Scrutiny is mandatory for generation/processing of the provisional registration number and for progression to subsequent stages of registration, subject always to fulfilment of all applicable eligibility and documentary requirements.

In addition to the online Phase-I Registration process, all affiliated colleges/institutions shall be required to submit the hard copies of the Registration Forms together with all relevant supporting documents of the newly admitted students to the University for physical verification. Such submission shall be made periodically throughout the admission and registration process. Colleges/institutions situated in South Bengal shall submit the aforesaid documents once every week, whereas colleges/institutions situated in North Bengal (Malda to Coochbehar & Darjeeling) shall submit the same once every fifteen (15) days. It shall be the responsibility of the concerned college/institution to ensure that the documents submitted are complete in nature, duly authenticated and arranged in the prescribed format. The University reserves the right to call for any additional document(s), clarification(s) or record(s), wherever considered necessary, before finalisation of the registration process.

The login credentials of the colleges/institutions shall remain unchanged unless otherwise communicated by the University. The credentials are to be kept secure and used only by authorised personnel. The concerned institution shall remain responsible for entries, verification and actions carried out through its authorised login, subject to the University's applicable rules and system records.

A detailed User Manual for Phase-I Registration is enclosed for procedural guidance. In the event of any inconsistency between the User Manual/portal workflow and any applicable Act, Regulations, rule, policy, Notification, decision or direction of the competent authority, the latter shall prevail.

Separate notification(s) regarding Phase-II Registration and Scrutiny, including the applicable schedule and procedure, shall be issued in due course. All affiliated colleges/institutions/In-House departments are directed to complete Phase-I Entry and Scrutiny within the timeline notified/prescribed by the University. Any case involving interpretation of rules or policy, deviation from prescribed norms, doubtful eligibility, dispute, any matter requiring policy decision/approval shall not be decided independently at the operational level and shall be referred through the appropriate channel to the competent Registration Committee constituted vide Notification No. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/009 dated 03.07.2026 read with the Notification No. MAKAUT/REG-ADM/2026/028 dated 09.07.2026 of the University for consideration and decision.

This Notification is administrative and procedural in nature and shall be implemented subject to the policies, decisions and directions of the competent Registration Committee and the applicable statutory and regulatory provisions. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as relaxation, waiver or modification of any eligibility condition, statutory requirement or approved policy unless expressly authorised by the Competent Authority in accordance with law.
